Am engineer from Berlin has created a bicycle with a light motorcycle frame, upside down fork, brakes and wheels from a moto-cross bike,a big Li-ion-battery which is really unique. This article (cant copy and paste - you have to enter the website manually) leads you to a german tv-news-site. See how fast you can go with a bicycle. Berlin population is used to many things, but this bike is a head-turner.  www.n24.de/news/newsitem_972149.html The bad thing about it - the price - 25.000 €. There will a series of ten pieces for 2009. Dammit - I guess I have to invite this guy for the next mobility - without -  car show in 2009. I need to see it live.

@ghee - it has pedals, a seat and a handlebar, so it ought to be a Fahrrad

@stu - right, but splendid nights cost more

@funky_house - mmmhh it worked for me

I find the principle of this bike so much fascinating. Damned fast and stylish. With projects like this I see that there still lies some good and sustainable riding fun in future..

@jomama - looks interesting, too. Did not know this project. There are significant differences in range, speed and the Zero aint a hybride bike and, even more important, it aint street legal. This issue makes the Erockit way more expensive. It has already passed the german (european) street legalization procedure.

Imho the optical impression of the Erockit is way more stylish. The bend frame, position of the specially shaped batteries and the quality of the components used makes it an eyecatcher.

Of course only a freak will spend 25000 Euros for this bike but in 5 years it might be affordable. In my eyes this is thee solution for greener cities..
