I Loyed the Kratong Alone
Why? Why did I go out at about 7:15 earlier tonight to Loy the Kratong by myself? Well, Yesterday I called Sprinkle in the morning and they said they would deliver my three tanks of water before 5:00 pm. They didn't. I called them just before 5:00 pm and they said they would deliver before noon today. I called them back at about two pm. They called me back about an hour later and said they would deliver today before 5:00 pm. My water never came...... BASTARDS!! (They will give me something free after I complain. They mostly are a service conscious and reliable company.)
So I walked to Wat Thep Lila not too far from the Big C on Ramkhamhaeng 24.
Can you read the sign? It says ·èÒà Ã×ÃÇÑ´à ·¾ÅÕÅÒ duh. To loy the kratong, we need a body of water. I was amazed at the size of the crowd. I stepped back and took another photo.Of course it was out of focus. I am a **** photographer. Somebody on TF has to suck at taking pics.
I bought a 20 baht kratong and took my own photo without realizing that I still had a small piece of chocolate on my lower lip because I ate a Ritter Sport on the long walk.Maybe I should have saved my appetite for some pad tai. Or I could have eaten some satay or other food on a stick. But I was full of chocolate.
There were lots of other things for sale there too. Do you see anyone's relatives or gf hanging around in this pic? The place was packed to my right........... and to my left. I grew impatient and threw my kratong into the water. Can you find it in this pic?
Loy kratong can be a very romantic holiday for couples...... But there were a lot of "hotties" who appeared to be single willing to give a ready smile. If only I could speak some Thai!!! Dammit!!!I climbed to the top of the bridge and took a photo of all the kratongs loying on the klong with the obligatory finger in the frame to once again display my (lack of) photographic skills. As I began to walk home, I noticed that throngs of people were still flocking to the wat.I bought one more kratong on the way home. (The one on the right.) And I gave it to a stranger near Ramkhamhaeng University as a kind of paying additional merit to this lovely holiday. Then as I was walking through the Ratchamangkala sports complex on my way home, I calmed some insurgents from Pattani Province who were up to no good and made them stop training their children to be suicide bombers.... and we started planning world peace together. Please nominate me for the next Nobel Peace Prize. And VOTE!!
