recently a friend of many years confided in me her husband has in fact been abusive to her physical and emotionally. If this was th US it would be asier to deal with as for guidance to turn to, numbers, emails, etc. Plus there is the asian mentality of male superiority and femlae subserveriance depsite many changing the stereotype.

What makes it worse is she now has a daughter from him and she is not some village girl who married some retired farang. SHe has a master's and is successful owns a condo in bkk she rents out and a nice size house on the outskirts of bkk where they live and you question how can smart people allow this to happen to themselves. Why would they subject their children to this and continue a cycle of abuse? I found one thing to send her but does anyone have any other information?

I hope your friend finds help. I don't know why it's such a hard cycle to break out of, but I've seen enough people caught in it to know it's not easy.

paulgh3rd.....this is an area which is opening up a "can of worms." Suggest that you get her professional help. Most women in USA do not leave the batterer, or leave and then return. If she is in imminent danger she should go to a shelter or safe relative and also get counseling. Education and social class are are not much related to the prevalence. Rationally she knows that she should not be abused, but.....

Stu... I simple ment she has an education and resources and is not any way dependant on him or out of her element and is actually MORE financially secure and successful but has already gotten to the point of feeling the opposite.
