If its good enough for Mr Vai, its good enough for me..I have seen him play those guitars on mumerous occasions...awesome..

I would like to try a guitar with sympathetic strings to get that Sitar sound...that way I wouldnt have wasted money buying a sitar, and finding out how bloody hard they are to tune and play.........

I think I've seen ZZ Top using some that looked like #2. And Bo Diddley used the shape on #3.

#4 is for weirdos. Yeck! :-)
