Iain's Sunday Sermon (Pt 5 of a journey)
No, dont worry, nothing to do with religion. Sunday Sermon was the name of an all day sunday gig we used to do, starting at 11am and finishing at midnight. Got a lot of the local club names to come down and play something different; non club orientated and what they might listen to when chilling at home. I love these gigs as you could really do some cross genre jumping, mixing up dub with blues, soul with 80's etc. So, to give you a wee taste, todays journal has 3, yes 3, varied and downtempo tunes. The first is the magnificent Orbital with the vocal reworking of their classic Belfast,'Wasted'. The second jumps back to the melodic sounds of Glasgow's very own Blue Nile from the early 80's and then to finish we jump forward to a guy I first heard on Jools Holland about 3 years ago, the utterly wonderful Seasick Steve, here playing with the Level Devils, rather than solo, with the great 'Cheap'. Man this guy can play guitar.Hope you all enjoy this sunday sermonand that the tunes bring a corner of mellowness to your Sundays...
