well , we've had soul, funk, dance, ska, blues, so today its the turn of the mods!!! Three clips; first is the marvellous Professor Stanley Unwin, King of Gobbleydegook (and yes he was a real professor) First saw this guy on Blue Peter (crap UK kids show). Have included this clip because of his contribution to the first band's seminal album... which is the Small Faces, from 'Ogden's Nut Gone Flake' with the utterly apt 'Lazy Sunday Afternoon' (what a track) Now taking the influence of the Small Faces forward in time, my obvious choice would be a Paul Weller project. Now I agonised over this; so many good Jam tracks to choose from, but instead, controversially, I have chosen a Style Council track' 'Long Hot Summer' for 2 reasons; 1) We havent had a long hot or even short hot summer in Uk this year, and 2) It's just such a mellow Sunday type track.Hope this cushions that Sunday feeling...and today's tracks are dedicated to PiAnt cos I think he will enjoy them. peace all, am off to pour another JD and turn the stereo up!!

I liked the Carry On clip - I remember the first time I saw that on the Midday Movie one weekend in Melbourne - and when Stanley Unwin first spoke I thought I had suddenly become unable to understand English - until I noticed the look on the people in the movie and realised it was actually meant ot be like that!

The Small Faces was a blast from the past - way so long ago - glad that music videos have improved a lot...having said that, the Style Council clip is very gay of course - just another example of the confusion in their music at the time.
