This is stupid ! i mean...with all of high tech wepans out there...whay the world are accepting  the modern piracy from somalian gangs ?...they already captured  a dozens of  ships including the saudi super oil tanker !maybe this modern pirates guys are inspierd by captain jack sparo movies ? or maybe they are having some havy political cover ?anyway...im inspired by their achievements and i would like to try my chance !all what i need is a " Black Pearl " ship...and dozen of breave hearted TFrs !any volunteers out there ?

The somali pirates are really rich now from previous captures. Little can be done after they strike.

How to prevent them? Arm the cargo ships? Bad idea to arm civilians.. the pirates have nasty weapons now and will gladly kill the sailors to get more weapons.

National fleets (French,US,UK) are spread too thin in this area and are basically shooting in the dark. They can escort 1 cargo ship but 2000 more are unprotected.

No, this problem must be dealt with at the source. Not much can be done at sea. But Somalia has even bigger internal problems....

There was talk that the UK Royal Navy couldn't do anything in international waters due to the pirate's "human rights" etc. etc. I hope this is bull and it's just the press doing their usual bullsh*t stories..

I have been watching the "experts" talking about this on TV, they say that the pirates are mainly somalian fishermen wanting a better life. They started small, made some money, brought better equipment/big homes/bribes to pay off local government officals.

Only way to stop this is either to move the shipping lanes (doubtful as cost too much) or copy the French and take action against them.
