Wow that's pretty crazy.... on the side part though, people like that (very tall, very short, very thin, very fat) are most likely to get severe health problem quite early... don't know if she could live very long... not to mention just crossing the road must be a very risky thing for her...

Spiroidal: I think racist comments don't have their place here...

But if you want to talk about genetic mutation, it happend naturally, and can be increased by chemicals agents, UV, radiations, etc.

So poluted country are more likely to get genetic abnormalities.

That's said... there is a lot of poluted country. Especially as we all use chemicals to kills insects and make our plant grow faster... it surely do have impact on us.

I don't think India have more people with genetics abnormalities than "any other country", but there is probably country with less, like places where they still live with the nature... the list must not be long...

But we surely do have more genetics mutations now than 500 years ago...

By the way, she is what she is, and it's nice to see that, at least there, people respect her :)

I bet if she lived in the US or France things would be different for her :(

MiniMe Lol...

I doubt we have more genetic mutations than 500 years ago. The world is a MUCH smaller place now... Imagine how a bunch of expats in Thailand would have found out about a tiny Indian girl 500 years ago.

We probably have fewer deformed people due to improvements in diet and healthcare across the world.

it's racist because you didn't talked about 3rd world country, were talking specifically about India. And also, words like "freaks" are kind of pejoratives ;)

By the way, India and China have a lot of people, so no wonder why they have more very tall/very small people (The tallest guy on earth is Chinese). But it's not about "having more freaky genetic throw back **** happen per capita than any other country"

English_Bob: not really. Yes, health increased and diet is better now, and it surely have an impact on how we look, but it does not affect our genes. Genetic mutations happend naturally, mutagenes agents increase the amount of it, and industrialisation increased the amount of it everywhere without any question: in the house, in the plants, everywhere...

But you were right in the way that our lifestyle also have a really big impact on us. It's called epigenetics, the genes are not affected, but knowing that a brain cell have the same genetic information than skin cell make you realize how powerful it can be ;)

Genes are not everything ;)

21th century will be Epigenetics Century :)
