This morning I attended the Basic life support class... and we had a little workshop to certified that we can help ppl life. Please read a little bit of  BLS. I copied it from Wiki."Basic Life Support (BLS) is a specific level of prehospital medical care provided by trained responders, including emergency medical technicians, in the absence of advanced medical care.Basic Life Support consists of a number of life-saving techniques focused on the "ABC"s of pre-hospital emergency care:

  • Airway: the protection and maintenance of patient airway including the use of airway adjuncts such as an oral or nasal airway
  • Breathing: the actual flow of air through respiration, natural or artificial respiration, often assisted by emergency oxygen
  • Compressions: pressure applied on the chest to keep the blood flowing by compressing the heart during cardiopulmonary resuscitation|CPR]
I did ABC. and CPR. It didn't like what to see in the movie and TV show... so many time they make me upset when they did it wrong way. such as us fist hit at the middle of chest... damn!! the can break the victim chest. The ways they do mouth to mouth are also horrible. Most trainee who attend the class were tired when they did mouth to mouth. I did help a kid and a man... 1. Wake the victim up to get to know if he / she still concious by putting a hand on shoulder cuz it's safe in case of the person's bone/ neck / spine broken.

2. Then call for help, shout out cuz we can't do it alone.

3. Check breathing by put my ear near his / her nose... and eyes stare at his / her chest. If no breathing... flow the air (Mouth to mouth) 2 times. Actually, at class we have mouth piece. My trainer said my lung is so good... when I flow, blow in the others could see the victim chest came up... yahoo!!!! in 1 cycle we have to do...

1. Find pulse... around neck. If no pulse, do CPR.

2. 2 blows (mouth to mouth) and press chest 30 times. Then do it like that 5 cycle... hrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. à˹×èà¢Ã§¨ÃÔ§ªéÒ¹¨ÃÃôÃÑéÂà¹ÕèÂ

Check vital sign. pulse and breathingSo may be you are safe with me. or not?

Very cool. It's always good to learn these types of skills. I was forced to take the classes doing the lifegaurd thing many many many years ago... of course I have completely forgotten everything they taught me!

nong LittleBit, What is BLT kha?

Khun GM, hmmm for BLS I have to renew every 2 years kha. From what I have been trained about this for 10 years, they changed the way to do it. They count... 1 and 2 and 3 ..... until 15 but this year changed count 1-30 (no and) times.

I heard from a friend who knows a lot of doctors, they said sometimes the CPR isn't exactly that great because the rescuer can break the patient's rib doing that and it is very common as well. :-P

Great thing to learn but I hope you don't have to use that skill!

It's cool that you keep up your certification, Neung! I didn't renew this year ( I know that is lazy and bad), but I will take the training again next year.

Oh, and LittleBit was obviously really hungry when she wrote her reply. A BLT is a bacon, lettuce and tomatoe sandwich! LOL!!!!!!!!!! :-)
