i arrived in bkk the day it was 46 and was shitting myself that my hometown macedon would go again if anything happened in the area. then when i phoned home later that day and saw the news here in thailand. having gone through the ash wednesday fires back in 1983 and watching the family home burn to the ground. my heart goes out to all those who have suffered. lost homes, lost loved ones or friends. To me losing your house or possessions is nothing as long as you survive. i can't stop thinking about the loss of human lives and the number that have perished, thats the thing that is really getting to me.

watching Paul Rudd on tv last night was perhaps the first time I can recall seeing a nation's leader being absolutely sincere in their feelings; he was right to call these ass**les mass murderers. Catch them and once in prison, leave them in a cell with the 6 biggest meanest lifers in there...

Every year we hear of people (well, they are humanoid, but can't really be human) who set fire to the bush and cause huge losses of property, animal life, and sometimes human life.

What on earth goes through their minds, I can't imagine, but if Rudd wants to bring back the death penalty just for them, thats fine by me. I note that the Australian authorities are considering charging anyone involved in ligting killer-fires with murder - something I have believed in for many years.

The loss of human life is a tragedy beyond belief, when you realise that it was a bush-fire that caused it - but in these dreadful conditions, the bushfires become living, virtually unstoppable monsters.

Let us hope that the death toll does not advance any further.
