The annual Celtic Connections festival has just finished in Glasgow and once again there was a fabulous line up of some very diverse acts. It is not only Celtic bands that play, but everything from bluegrass to folk, pipe music to fiddle tunes.Thought I'd share some of the highlights (got to a couple of gigs and saw a lot on the BBC)First up is an act I'd never heard of; Cara Dillon from Ireland, and boy, does this girl have the voice of an angel... Next up is an act I did manage to catch, and can I just say; I'm in love...with all 3 of them!!!This is Baskery; 3 sisters (I am thinking of moving to the US, becoming a mormon and marrying all of them) from Sweden who play a sort of punk/country acoustic hybrid...(?) Next up, something more traditional with Ross Ainslie and Jarlath Henderson... Now we have a great cover of The Pogues' Lorelei by Mollys Revenge with Moira Smiley on vocals....   And just to show the diversity, here's Sly and Robbie with Bitty McLean at the Jamaican Burns Night (yes there was one!!!) The last track is not from the festival (though he did play - just couldnt find footage of it!!) My friend went to see this, and if I had realised before that this was the voice of George Clooney in 'O Brother where art thou' (an amazing film) I would have been there with bells on.So from the Crossroads festival, this is Dan Tyminski with 'I am a man of constant sorrow'
