Excessive use of the word 'Miss'
I am sure many of you have heard the phrase, 'I miss you'. However in my opinion in Thailand the phrase is used excessively to the point it now has no meaning to me. To miss someone surely means you know someone. To miss before meeting, to miss on first online chat, to miss prior to even chatting..is just excessive.
My question is whether this is an translation issue. The verb miss in Thai is 'Kid Teung'. Kid means think. I am sure we all think about people we hardly know, especially when we are hopeful of a future friendship, or more, with a new person in our lives. Are Thai people really just saying, 'I have been thinking about you' ? This understandable. If not, then its either insincere or just bananas.
