I recently had to ship luggage because of airline increased weight limits and charges. It can really blow if you don't have a clue or idea of what to do or where to start. this article really helped me out. Since a lot of members have dual residents. I thought It might be helpful and I would share it with the TF community. They freight Internationally also.

Really? I must take at least 10-20 flights a year and only had my luggage delayed by one day twice in my life, both times it was delivered to my door the next day.

Emirates just increased their limits as well.

Why pay more?

hey beej thanks for reply.

the reason I had to resort to this service was that I had some problems with the weight of some of my luggage they were way over 100 lbs about 110 lbs a piece. the limit was 50 lbs so even if I did 2 pieces at 100 lbs it still was cheaper for me to freight them

I also by the way was in the hole by $40 the cost of 2 pieces and I would have had to pay $50 for the overweight but only up to 70 lbs if they went up to 100 lbs I would have had to pay and extra $100 plus the $40 and I could only go to 100 lbs overweight. the freight people let you go up to 150 lbs.

I had to plan a few days in advance but the numbers worked out better for me with the luggage shipping. oh yea did I tell you a 3rd piece is $100 plus the overweight which was another $200 out of pocket. my darn ticket was only $150 US so this is why it was cheaper than the airlines by far.

exactly paulgh3rd

luggage shipping of course is not for everyone just letting people know that it exists. it worked in my circumstance. the airlines play a numbers game with customers. I of course had a quandry with the numbers.

Just like once upon a time people expected a meal on a US transcon domestic flight that is unheard of nowadays. people become conditioned to certain expectations. free baggage is R.I.P. of course you can still get a meal a.k.a snack equivalent in coach on most international flights the meal tastes great but is definitely less filling. unless you fly first class where you get more than a average of a meal.

mmmmm strange, I've never paid a penny for over weight luggage, just turn up nice and happy and early.... and you'll get it on for free.

I often fly with around 70+ kilos of luggage without a hassle.

What ever floats your boat though.
