The Thrilla in Manila is the third and final famous boxing match between Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier for the Heavyweight Boxing Championship of the World, fought at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City, Metro Manila, Philippines on October 1, 1975.Both boxers battled each other into near incapacity, and Frazier's trainer determined he should stop the bout after the fourteenth round, so the decision went to Ali as a technical knockout (TKO). I watched this fight live VIA sattellite from Anchorage, Alaska, I was 25 years old. One of the greatest boxing matches ever, I will never forget it. A testament to the human spirit. Wish everyone a good week ;)

i remember watching this fight as a kid .... rumour has it frazier had always been blind (or partially sighted) in one eye and in the later stages of this fight his "good" eye was virtually closed meaning he was fighting practically blind !!

frazier had a massive fall out with his trainer futch for stopping the fight, despite being blind and out on his feet. ali collapsed shortly after the fight and both men probably suffered permenant physical damage. frazier still detests ali for his ridiculing and taunting in the build up.

probably the most brutal fight i can remember seeing !!!!!

Well, I wasn't born yet during that time. But I've read about it. It's one of the best boxing fights of all time. And to give honor to Muhammad Ali, one of the malls in Manila was named after him. It's Ali Mall. That mall is very old now, but the memories are still fresh in the hearts of those Filipinos who have witnessed the fight!:)

Surprise, surprise! There's a Filipino on TF. I guess that's part of our being Filipinos. We're soo fanatic and sentimental that when we love something, we never get tired of it.
