Slightly off-topic but maybe useful in other cases as well:

One of my bosses used to say to me: "See Mr..., I have seen many people come and go but I am still here.", which meant:

Consistency is key. Even a dumb nut like my ex-boss could made it to manager position this way, just by being consistent lol

There 's always cost of opportunity and people may win or lose. He has the opportunity to be promoted and he lost the opportunity elsewhere because he doesn't take up a challenge but I like the part of being consistent ;o)

We all have different people entering our lives. Some disappear with not much impact and others change our lives. Some are meant to be with us and others, as profound as their impact on our lives may have been, are meant to fade away.

That is not to say those who are no longer in our lives are no longer in our minds. We may have our reasons for not having them around us anymore but that is not to say we do not respect and value them.

We must be grateful for those special enough to spend time with us and if it didn't work out the way we wanted to, it doesn't mean it wasn't real. Just because we really want something doesn't mean we know how to.

We need to learn to let ourselves to be vulnerable. Love is stronger than pride. That takes true courage and until we are able and willing to do that, true love will keep giving us a miss.
