Cost effectiveness certainly depends upon where it is employed, but the graph doesn't stipulate where. The gas/coal lines should not be horizontal. They should be based upon forward prices and I am sure the forward curve is not flat.

Don't forget solar only works during the day and is effected by clouds. Also future energy needs are multiples of today's energy needs so solar will only fill part of the gap.

In terms of environmental cost fossil fuels and nuclear have always been more expensive than renewables. In the UK, nuclear generating capacity would never have been started but for the military's aspirations to use a nuclear generating programme to provide them with weapons grade fissionable material

Evergreen solar will be gone by next year. It's the worst run company in the sector. While the technology is fairly efficient on a CE the management team is beyond incompetent! **** Feldt is a complete moron! They are being forced to shut down the US plant and move everything to China. Nice waste of 50mill US tax dollars...They are about to dilute once again. Who dilutes with a stock price near $1??? I expect it to be de-listed or bought fairly soon. Although management will fight a takeover tooth and nail as it would bring an end to their personal ATM. From the investment perspective I would stick with SPWR or STP.

Evergreen is not being forced to move to China....they are moving assembly only to stay competitive from a cost standpoint. In fact the state of Massachusetts and its citizens are pissed about the move. Again, it is not production that is moving it is assembly only. People in Fort Devens, MA are pissed at all the noise the plant makes.

Actually that is what I meant by forced... forced due to cost structure issues. The incompetence of **** and his team in ramping Devens is partially to blame! Also the fact that they signed long term high cost silicon supply contracts didn't help either! Those idiots could not get out of their own way. Of course when you hire your operations chief based on the fact that he is related to you.. not much good is going to come out of it. I believe **** has given jobs there to several of his family members!! LOL.
