Liam Clancy died today

Ok if you are reading this most of you won’t know who Liam Clancy was.

He was a giant in Irish music.

Himself and his brothers and Tommy Makem were Irish folk singers who in their own way changed the face of music as we know it today.

With his death today something big died  – ahh its hard to explain

Bob Dillon called him the best balled signer he ever heard.

Anyway here is 2 clips of him

First 1 is for all the Aussies on here - have u every heard anyone do this it better?

Second 1 still relevant today with Iraq and Afghanistan

Wish it wasn’t so but war will always be with us

Rest in Peace Liam

thanks for this paul. i have never heard of a bad irish balladeer. and liam clancy is one of the best and that is a very heartful version of the band played waltzing matilda. it bought a tear to my eye as i listen to this and the people at the next table are wondering what i was humming along to ^__^. i'm sitting in changi airport on my way home to australia. just arrived from saudi.

I remember Liam Clancy and if my memory serves me well, I posted this song (sung by someone else, I belive) as a journal last ANZAC Day. I agree with Johnno, no matter how often I hear it, it brings a tear or two to my eyes.
