Because the recipient didnt open it yet ja :-) i also have about 10 PMs in my outbox, because the members i sent to have banned (lol) and some are just rejected my loves to them :-(

Ahhh... That's even strange because OUTBOX supposed to mean there are on waiting list to send out because of internet connection or main server of website....

Messages stay in OUTBOX until opened by recipient. Once opened they transfer to SENTBOX

NOTE. Although messages in OUTBOX are available to recipient, the sender can still delete or edit them before they are opened.

Yep, pretty much bigKus and funky_house have explained it correctly.

In the new TF, you can choose whether or not to store a copy in your sent folder. Unfortunately, sent messages will count against your limit though. But we are going to up the number of messages to make up for that.

You can also ask to be notified when the user reads it. You get a little thing in your PM page that says that the email has been read.
