Traveller's Group

Well, maybe it's not too bad to do a bit of promotion. I have set up a group aimed at travellers to share experiences, funny, bad, dangerous and good stories. Up to now, nine TFers have found and joined it, maybe there are some more out there who are interested?

Initial topics have been set up but everyone is free to add his two cents (maybe even two dollars). You are all most (NOT almost!) welcome!

@danno: This one is for all travellers (as we have many here). Well, there might be a bit of a focus on SE-Asia, but generally, I did not mean that. Wherever you have been, wherever you have had experiences (good, bad, strange, funny), all this is welcome.

Actually, I did not mean to create a "travel guide" (where to go, what to see, how to get from A to B) but if you want to share this, it is also ok. The big overall umbrella is "sharing travel experiences", whatever they might be. You can warn us about some rip-offs or scams, you can tell us about some gorgeous places to stay, you can share just some souvenirs from former travels.... as you like. If you want to share some places to eat....welcome! If you want to know about some places to eat, visit, stay......welcome, too (just hope that somebody already has been to the area you are requesting info of). And, most of all, if you have some stories and/or pics you'd like to share - that would be great!

OK Kaunitz - Let start with my suggestion. If you wanna visit Ayutthaya, try to do at weekday not the weekend. Don't know when a lot of people decided to select my hometown as weekend destination.

@HappyWanderer - Really? Then I hope you're happy spending time in my hometown with less people in everywhere ^^. Believe me there will be more tourists at the weekend for sure haha.

Sasie --- think that is a good rule to most "tourist sights" around the world -- weekdays if possible --- season when most are not taking a holiday... example my last two time to Disney World once in April , once in May almost no lines --- it really helped to make it enjoyable !! now Pattaya or South Beach - Miami -- Friday night maybe the way to go!!! I regret staying in for a quiet night on Halloween at Kamala --> when Patong was right over the hill!!!! Oh well I am tooooooo old for that action!

@Sasie: Thanks for the hint, I already followed it partially. My first and second visits to Ayuttayah happened during the week - just the last one we had to do on a Sunday which actually WAS embarrassing a bit!

@Danno - Yes I think so and we can use this rule at the festival, too. For example, during Songkran, Loy Kratong or Chinese New Year in Thailand, a lot of people, a higher price & wasting time are the things you'll face certainly. Unless, you wanna touch the festival atmosphere then let go at that time haha. For Thailand beach, if you wanna avoid the tourist please try to go to another destination such as Ranong, Trang for Southern part or Trad, Rayong for Eastern part.

@Kaunitz - Next time if your wife & you wanna visit my hometown, you can ask me for the place to eat & visit. I'm sure you'll impressed with my suggestion ^^ or I can join your short trip as a private guide ^__^

Wooow! This discussion would fit perfectly on the group page!

Anyhow, thank you Sasie and Pimma for your kind offers! Let's see if it will materialize - a tour guided by someone who knows also about the hidden beauties of a place is always something special.

@Susie: It's always great to visit some tourist place during week day instead of weekend. Although it's a bit difficult to do that but I will try :)

@kaunitz: LOL, I'm on your member list now :)

Well, your wild guess might be based on some empiric experience! So you better use your holidays to go there during a weekday!
