As I am a frequent traveller out of several reasons and I could see a lot of different types of travellers, it came to my mind to set up a poll about this. Specifications of the basic categories I identified are to be found at

http://www.thailandfriends.com/group.php?discussionid=95&do=discuss

and the poll, you can find at

http://www.thailandfriends.com/showthread.php/47272-Which-kind-of-traveller-are-you

Hope that there will be quite some replies as a lot of those being online here are travelling a lot!

Oh yes - please take it "cum grano salis"! :D

Good Info. Thanks. I used to travel a lot in my good old days but since we moved to our house with cat and dogs and live next to a strange person, I stay home and take care of things around here.

A house in our Soi just got some morons broke in the other day, that scares me. As much as I still want to travel with my hubby but taking care of the house and our hard earned stuffs is more important. It's a dirty job but someone has to do it. I will travel again after retired, I hope.

Eeey, Nicky, don't see things so negative! I mean, the inspector now clarified that you are right and your neighbor may f*ck off. So this should be clarified now and if he continues to bother you, you (and/or your hubby) can sue him until he has only dry bread to eat.

Burglaries are common these days but I never really was afraid of it as I have a security door that even in an emergency two years ago proved to be a veritable obstacle because the firefighters, after destroying one of the two locks at my door, had to break a window to get in and close off the broken water pipe (was just when I had my wife here for the first time and we went off happily, came back happily after a ten days trip through Europe and then, i had to spend our last two days running around to get a new window, a new door safety lock and also the whole sh*t payed by my insurance. Went well, but some time was wasted ;). So if you have the right equipment, nothing to be feared! Only thing is what to do with cat & dog during your absence but I hope you have some friends who could take care of them!

Well, you sounded likely my hubby... LOL. But he also added that I'm a bit of a paranoid.. Mind him.. Who want to go to Uzbeistan anyway! ;)

Seriously, as a woman I travel with so many unnecessary things. Like 2-4 pairs of shoes, just in case... some jewellery, just in case, ... Hair shampoo and conditioner, just in case... And many more, just in case. My hubby is a professional traveller, all he needs was a passport and credit cards. (he's on the way to Uzbeistan btw, good luck with that)
