This journal is not a funny one in my usual insane style.I wanted to post this story, but didn't because I didn't think people would read it, but I got the impetus from reading superbow's journal http://www.thailandfriends.com/index.php?name=Journal&view=journal&jid=41061&juid=51842  which basically says the same kind of story that mine does.It takes time to read, but in my opinion, it is worth  reading.A story I heard a long time ago, and never could forget._____________  Once upon a time there were 2 buddhist monks walking down a dusty road, traveling from one temple to another temple. In their particular sect, they had sworn an oath...a promise...to never speak to, or touch a woman. They walked for many kilometers before coming to a river. The river current was especially fast at this time of year, and the water was rushing by very quickly. At the side of the river was a thin girl/woman crying. She couldn't cross the river because it was too dangerous for her...She would be carried downstream by the fast water. One of the 2 monks walked up to her and picked her up, and put her on his shoulders, and carried her through the water to the other side of the river. He put her down, and he and his other brother monk, continued onward to the next temple. They walked for a long time down the dusty road. The other monk seemed very angryHe was talking to himself quietly with an angry face, and kicking any  rocks on the road, that were obstructing his path. in a very violent way.The monk that carried the woman said :  "What is wrong my brother?...you seem disturbed!"The other monk finally said what was bothering him, and said " Brother!!!! when you became a monk, you took a promise to never speak or touch a woman!!!"The monk that carried the woman over the river said " Yes brother...I picked her up to cross the river....BUT....I "put her down"....."You" are still carrying her!   (in his thoughts, anger, memory, resentment,etc.) ___ The moral of the story is, in my opinion only, and I am going to be very philisophical about it... ___ We all carry baggage of past memories...Good or bad...but we carry them in our minds, and they shape our future. The one monk carried anger down the road kicking rocks and cursing to himself. The other monk let it all go in the moment.***If you carry a heavy load of bad memories, it becomes a burden.Too much to carry!!!***The old proverb comes true here."One more straw will break the camels back"____If you keep piling  **** on the plate of your mind, one day, your mind just might snap, the same as the camels back. When you let things go, forget them, let them drift off, away from your mind ,like clouds flowing in the sky...you take the burden off yourself....You have no more load or worries to think about.*****If you have read this far, I am astounded, and will also give you they key that seems so unattainable, by the seekers on their "quest for enlightenment" in Buddhist or other traditions.Carrying the "load" of worries , thoughts, anger, jealousy, hate, become a heavy weight on your shoulders to carry through your life....and the **** just keeps piling up and piling up as you get older.....until your back breaks (your mind)...you cannot carry the load anymore.___when you learn how to let it all go.......fly away....then you have no more burden of weight to carry in your mind.there is NO more weight or heaviness.(burden)You lighten your "mental" load.........................Hence, you become "lighter"That is one aspect and  meaning of "ENLIGHTEN"MENT sought by so many people in their lifes quest. ....finished with my philisophical statement and belief....I don't think many will appreciate it. You can always lead a horse to water, but you cannot make it drink, if it is not thirsty.......

Thanks for reading it and your kind words!

I will add one more thing....one more key....

the next step...

The very "quest" for enlightenment is also a weight and a burden.

the "persuing" enlightenment must also be "let go !"

if you "chase" it, it runs away from you, and you will never catch it.

When you stop chasing it, it will chase you.

Nirvana, Satori...(what ever semantics you choose to use)

all attainable...to the degree you are "capable" of accepting....

Hi Randy,

Even though I have only met your recently I more or , less knew straight away,

that you are a person Who thinks Deeply ,A man who speaks with Conviction & one who

Is very,very Philosophical as well..

You have some great Attributes Randy, I admire you as a Person & as a Human being.

I have heard the story of the 2 Monks before.

Maybe you would like to read "Siddatha

& also the Life & Works ofworks by the Prophet "Kahil Gibran"A Prophet of Mohammed..

He writes on a variety of subjects, but all have meaning pertaining to Life.

I'm sure you will find them both Interesting & Enlightening. Right up your Alley!

He is very deep in his thoughts & you have to read some of his Parables over & over again to get the true meaning of

what he is saying. They are very well hidden but It stimulates you mind, in the process of your thoughts.

Seeya Buddy.! Drop you a PM shortly. Dealing with my shock at the moment. Explain Later ok.

Take care & Have a good one. Cheers..Dekka

I also agree with letting go!

If a person doesn't, but holds It within one's self , they are destroying themselves.

Because it will manifest Itself into festering sore, which will eventually harm & damage a persons Health!

Dekka:

I have read both...and many more

even deepak chopra is good reading but more aimed to the masses of peoples understanding...but he also speaks the truth, in my opinion.

you said: "what he is saying. They are very well hidden but It stimulates you mind, in the process of your thoughts."

of course they are well hidden.

that is the intention!

i am not, by any stretch of the imagination a christian, but i was forced into it when i was young....

the bible says "do not cast pearls before the swine"

the pearls are the wisdom.(the secrets...the HIDDEN knowledge

:the pearl of knowledge" is what you see in all the Chinese dragon dances down the street parades

dragon "chasing" the pearl

(or sometimes he caught it)

if you look at chinese dragon art, you can find dragons holding the pearl.

i had it tattooed on my arm since around 1980

maximmm: yes...the buddhist monks are on the internet.

i see them all the time , walking in their robes, carrying out computers from pantip plaza , with BIG smiles on their faces!

there are many forms of buddhism.

some higher and some lower.

enlightenment doesn't come after death

it is here NOW

it has always been with you.

you are "IT" already.

most people just can't see "IT", beccause they have to many "layers" (like skins on an onion) that need to be peeled off, to get to the core of "who you REALLY are"

that core is "perfection"..and you are perfect already.

we all, myself included, layer ourselves" with "layers and masks"

and the more layers you add..the more your inner core gets hidden, and covered up.

my g/f is a devout buddhist.

she does some ritualized prayer every night on my bed...bowing 3 times in silent prayer...

there in truth is a fault in lower levels of buddhism.

praying to buddha somwhere "out there!" (seperate from you)

you ARE buddha already...you just can't see it or peel off enough layers of the onion.

in a tradition from India, (where buddhism came from) it is commonly know as 'I am that", and also "that is I"

it is a microcosm within a macrocosm.

there is no seperation between you "here", and buddha "out there"

or in christian terms....praying to god "out there"

that is all RITUAL.

god/buddha/holy spirt/ki/chi is part of you.(what ever you want to call "it"

no need to pray or do this low level ritual stuff like my g/f does, and even FAR too many monks nowadays.

when you think "a thought"...it is already "SEEN" by the higher power (whatever you want to call it)

it is PART of you..and you are PART of "it"

there is NO seperation.

it is impossible.

to perform rituals, or think you must wait till you die to achieve....only reinforces your belief that you are not connected NOW, and it MIGHT come in the future.

any HIGH...super high level monk/holy man/guru,, especially in India, will say ritual and seperation is total crap.

the answer is so simple, but we, as humans, with layerd onion skins, just can't see the truth, when it it right in front of our face.

"we can't see the forest because the trees are in the way"

****sorry for ranting

Knowledge of Tao does not relieve the human dilemma: it clarifies it.

Yet there is a world of difference between those who suffer with insight and those who suffer in ignorance.

It is far better to have some insight...

Dekka: lol...yes...i talk too much this time, but I do it because it is my "life"...people do not have time nor want to read anything longer than 3 sentences....and i suspect many also don't have a clue what i am speaking about on the deeper level (hidden)

when you have" been there", everthing is apparent, or should I say transperant.

i once was a monk, and have seen things that cannot be expressed in words or it will taint the truth.

now i am a simple drunk......

ralfox: wise words my friend !

Really really really great read.

As we go through life, good and bad things happen to us. Everyone, without exception. Rich, poor, fat, thin, black, white, regardless. No one can escape sorrow or sadness.

The one's however who have the happier lives, are the ones who can learn to, and be disclipined enough, to discard the bad things, and promote the good.

Bad things: We throw away our garbage every day or it will smell, and be unpleasant. Once we throw it away, it's gone. The bad is gone. We will never experience that peice of garbage again.

Good things: A TV program. We enjoy watching something. We look out for the next episode again the following week. It will make us smile, give us knowledge, and enjoyment.
