I saw "Der Untergang" (The Downfall) a couple of days ago, and I have not been able to stop thinking about it.

The movie depicts Adolf Hitler's final days in his Berlin bunker at the end of WWII. I have seen tons of movies about WW II, but it was kind of interesting to see a different side of the War. When was the last time you saw a Nazi being kind? Who didn't have a limp and monocle ? Who was NOT christianed Faust or Graff Dunkelwald and who did NOT make lampshades of human skin or shot fleeing starved scared Jewish children in the back?

Right !?

The movie is in German, but is still worth watching....do so if you get the chance....enough said.

(Watch it LOUD !)

the monocled bald scary nazi in 1940s movies was generally played by konrad veidt... incidentally veidt was also in "the student of prague" one of the best known silent horror films ...

" - Rated R for strong violence, disturbing images and some nudity."

(Just to awaken the appetite of doubting critics)

"Karl Richter, a member of the German NPD (which is a national party, was almost banned by the German high court and is a political refuge for skinheads and neo-nazis), managed to get into the movie via the normal way of being cast. He plays the part of Generalfeldmarschall Keitel's Adjutant (assistant). He later expressed his pleasure and satisfaction when the casting crew asked him to try on the uniform, lift his right arm and shout, "Heil Hitler." The filmmakers did not know who he was and that he actually was quite experienced in performing the asked task."

...now, how sick is that!?
