condotown
My doctoral thesis, if I ever write one would be something along the lines of how the invented monetary system puts our two natural instincts, that to survive, and that to reproduce in conflict with each other. It is because we all have become consumers and acquirers of things as we are bombarded with marketing all day every day. By having children, we are only producing more consumers. When we accept them as dependents or parasites that are also in direct competition with us and reduce our own ability to consume as we please with our limited resources, they put our level of convenience and own survival in jeopardy to a small degree. It takes either a huge leap of faith and fantastic levels of optimism or just being a careless animal to make a conscious decision to reproduce in this day and age. And in that successive generations lean progressively more heavily on speculation and dependence rather than productivity for survival, I'd say the degree to which they put their predecessors' convenience and survival in jeopardy is ever-increasing. Don't have. Don't want. The world doesn't need another human with a genetic predisposition to alcoholism.
