StuckinBKK
Ekamai is pretty expensive for rent. If it's a big, well located place, rent is likely to be expensive. If it has an expensive design, it costs more to sit inside. And finally, if you are a pretentious c*nt, you don't want to hang around with back-packers, whoremongers, bargirls or any other cheapskate motherfucker who can find 100 baht to sit in your nice expensive bar. In the above case, the owner has weeded out the undesirables - TF members who won't pay 193 baht - in favour of wealthy Thais who will. It was 240BHT for the beer if it wasn't happy hour ie 5GBP, ive never been anywhere in the UK where a run of the mill bar overlooking a carpark with a supermarket next door charges 5 quid for a beer, and i've lived in Chiswick and Richmond. But i'd have thought i am kind of the clientèle theyre after, as i'm a youngish beer drinker who makes decent enough money overseas to live in this area, and i'm willing to spend a fair bit on my existence, so long as prices are reasonable. It was the first time in my life when ive gone out for a pinL and only had one, it is possible
CiaranM
I am not sure asking for 400 baht is a proportional response to "a beer please mate" :thumbleft:
