A 50-year-old Thai woman was jailed for 42 years for forcing the girls, including her daughter, into prostitution, an official at the Bangkok court told AFP. The victims, who were all under 15 at the time, gave evidence that they were forced to having sex with Lloyd. Both Lloyd and the Thai woman denied the charges. "The first defendant was found guilty of forcing girls into prostitution and sentenced to 42 years in jail while the second defendant was found guilty of raping minors and sentenced to 21 years," the court official said. AFP While I applaud the sentences, feel they should both have received the same jail time.
simply_oriental
I think it's not long enough.Thai justice should punish them more cause they will release them before for sure. I heard some stories like this before in Thailand but i never knew how long time they go to the prison. Thanks P'Iain for posting. I watch lot's of crime documentaries from USA,i am a huge fan, mostly i watched on youtube. One case i remember so well because the guy cries like baby and he deserve it.In this case was a black(African-American) man who molested his 2 step son,The judge rule sent him 2 life time in prison but the mother has no guilty ,i think it's so wrong ,the mother should go to jail too.i like this judge he was so angry to the mother of the boys and blame her so hard ,It was on TV in USA as well this clip video. DANNO
well if the mom get 42 years --- released at age 92 that is maybe a life term... The raper get 21 years ??? (huh??????) ...is he half as guilty? nope! Edited March 3, 2012 by DANNO
Stramash
well if the mom get 42 years --- released at age 92 that is maybe a life term... The raper get 21 tears ??? (huh??????) ...is he half as guilty? nope! My point exactly. To use a firearm analogy (google it Danno), who is more guilty? The person who sells the gun or the one who fires it and kills someone? Glad she got a hefty punishment but his should be equal or longer.

Ma Duce is a -->50 Cal machine gun... up the river is -> to prison (Sing-Sing specifically) ... fried is -> excecuted by electrocution but an appropreate analogy could be the court's sentence to the Brit --- was and abortion! And good that this seller was sent up the river too! Glad we agree on that one

And good that this seller was sent up the river too! Glad we agree on that one Well, surprisingly enough fool, I was basing my analogy on my own country. But what % of gun sales in the US are illegal? I cant find any figures but one interesting stat was that in 1994 alone, 600,000 guns were stolen in burglaries. But we digress from the original point. So in this case, we agree that the seller (ie the mother) should have received a hefty sentence. And, we seem to agree that the male perpetrator should have also received a heftier sentence than he did. Now we come to a potential fault in the system (though this 'fault' works in our favour) (I stress the word 'potential' here as am unsure of the Thai penal codes other than this part -'according to Thai law a life sentence prisoner is eligible for parole and release on licence after serving a term of 10 years in prison') Now I am guessing from reading details of another case that Thai courts adjudge a life sentence as being around 50 years, so the mother should be eligible for parole after around 8/9 years - this is all approximation. The male in this case will be eligible for a transfer to a UK jail under the bilateral transfer treaty that exists between the 2 countries (I disagree with these treaties - if you break the law in a foreign country you should serve your sentence there) Now if he transfers back to the UK, he then comes under our legislation vis a vis parole conditions and would automatically be released after serving 2/3 of his sentence. This would mean he would serve 14 years jail time in total. He may (and probably would) serve the last few years of this sentence in 'open' conditions and may get parole around 2 years prior to release date (perhaps on home detention curfew) but the fact remains that he will serve longer than the mother who received twice his sentence!!!
