Cosmo
When I was a lot younger - in fact, it was in my first year of university and I was less wiser to the ways of the world and to what was important to learning. At the time, I mistakenly held the belief that a university education was everything in life. Then I was studying at Melbourne University and trying to complete 2 degrees within a one degree time frame and also aiming for the top mark for every subject - I know "how stupid of me". At the time, I was young and I was trying to make my mark at the university. In any case, I put a lot of stress on myself to succeed. I was so stressed out that towards exam time, I was both restless and sleepless. What made it worse was that all my exams were scheduled to be done in the first week after the end of the teaching semester. Well, the enormous stress caused a lung collapse during my third exam. And as a result, I lost both air and blood - apparently, the bursting of the lung ruptured a blood vessel and I started bleeding internally. By the time, I got to hospital, I started to faint because there was not enough oxygen being carried to my brain. My right lung had fully collapsed and blood was pouring into it. I was immediately admitted to emergency surgery and operated on which lasted 4 hours. Well, I am here today because everything went well and I survived but my surgeon then had told me that I had one litre of blood left in my body before the operation to stop the internal bleeding. Damn scary moment for me then.

Yes.... there were times, you did talk profoundly with your loved ones and you told them that... you would want to be the one who died before them... you wanted to go first as its too much to cope being left behind with all the pain and memories... and emptiness..... ... what a scariest thought ever....... -WB-
LudwigVonMises
Scariest thing I saw was my "friend" take a glass, insert two scoops of orange sherbert, drizzle it with strawberry syrup, pour in Diet Coke, add a spoonful of lemon juice, then spray the top with chocolate whipped cream, and eat the whole thing. Or, the time he ate a banana with cheese melted on it, or macaroni and cheese with ketchup and barbeque sauce.
anenglishman
Scary things can seem funny in hindsight. Scariest for me was 1997 in Azerbaijan.....yeah I know...I deserve to be scared in a place like that! I was at a factory my company was taking over. For various reasons we found ourselves in a riot...about 400 factory workers went crazy. Then one of them calmly announced we would have a bullet in our heads if we ever returned. Interesting......well the bodyguards got us out and into the car. Then the workers tried to up end the car. We got out (eventually) and, surprise, never went back. Interesting to learn that time really does seem to slow down when u face a life threat.

(Keep it simple doc!) scary moment highlights: - morning of first day of nursery school... i can still remember it clearly! - my mom being rushed into emergency surgery and i was 12000 miles away knowing i might never see her again (she survived) - brakes failing while trying to decelerate from about 120mph and resulting impact (scary in retrospect- no time to be scared at the time) - first day of work - doctors/dentists/hospitals!
