0 Kayle
About the elephant, is it a handwash or machine wash? I am not a mountain person, so do not know much about hiking. Have fun though!
0 ling_dtua_khaao
Upcountry Kanchanaburi, beyond the town on the way to the Burmese border, is so beautiful. Many other waterfalls and caves and elephants to wash along the way. We stayed a couple of nights at a place called Suan Tan Resort about midway to the big dam from town. Gorgeous setting, nobody else there, almost no staff there either, and were completely clueless/confused what to do when we arrived. We just paid them 500baht per night for a great little cottage overlooking a small waterfall, handed them the cash, no check-in, nothing. Hilariously informal/disorganized/almost shut down in off-season. The money probably went straight into the pockets of the few staff, who likely never bothered to report our presence to the owners. --Ling
