ling_dtua_khaao
Here's another high quality forum thread for the TF community. A recent journal entry got me to thinking, and I've posted part of my comment from there. When I'm in Thailand, even though I eat loads of fruit and vegetables and chillies and nam phrik and somtam sai pla ra and lots of very "unfarang" foods... I rarely ever seem to fart, and they aren't smelly when it happens. When I'm in Canada I fart a lot more and on occasion the smell will cause small animals, children and the elderly to lose consciousness. I think it must be something about North American diet, and probably farang diet in general. I don't think it is from dairy products, which I still eat when I'm in Thailand - eat yoghurt most days. So I don't know what is causing the difference. I'm not a big drinker in Canada or in Thailand, so it's not a case of the beer shits. I eat a lot of Thai and Asian cooking in Canada. Maybe it's not food at all. Maybe Canadians fart more to keep warm. What's your experience? Are you gassier in Thailand or out? Are you gassier eating farang food or Thai? Any stab at an explanation? Any sciency types willing to tell us what's going on? --Ling
Loburt
i don't think it's simply from dairy products, although they may contribute. And Thais actually eat a lot of diary products these days. I think the combinations of food you are eating may play more of a role in creating gas. Just an opinion.

Vindaloobeast
Hmmm its probably not a nice thing to read but I have noticed that when Im in Thailand consistancy of no2 is very different than at home in the UK. I dont know why it happens but it does without fail on every visit within 1/2 day of arrival. In addition I would be very cautious of rasping one out loud due to a very real fear of touching cloth ..! I do apologise for this thread but it had to be said. Beast.
bryanwhat
Nah, the amount of farting now was the same as back home. It's the smell that's different
