Vindaloobeast
I might be wrong and tell me to shut it but during last months visit to LOS I noticed something that was in my mind quite unusual. Ive been to Thailand now for some years and about 18-19 visits pretty much all over the place but this time during my visit to Chiang Mai I noticed loads and loads of women smoking. I then flew on to Phuket for a couple of weeks and whilst it wasn't as bad as Chiang Mai in my opinion there were still far more women smoking than I have ever seen in previous years. Has anyone else noticed..? Is it me..? Personally I dont like it but each to their own I guess. Interesting..hmm.. Beast.
Treborz
I suppose it's quite a hot topic as well with all the smoking bans coming in now. England have the ban starting this summer and where I live the ban has been in place for over a year now, my mate got thrown out and barred the other day for lighting up in a pub. Trouble is he is over from the mainland for a week so he isn;t used to it lol. Back on topic I must admit i did not see a huge amount of women smoking on my two visits to LOS but they were in 2005 and last year so when I go back out in December I will try to remember to make some observations. GoldMember
Judging by European/American company tobacco sales, the far east is very much a growth market: add to that increasing Westernisation and womens lib- and you would expect your fair share of Thai chicks to join in the fun
Vindaloobeast
sigh.... :? something tells me that not only Thai women smoking.... True Green Tea, but then Ive always seen the men hanging around smoking usually drinking as well but in the past Ive never seen a lot of Thai women smoke. Im sure attitudes are changing....and I fear the West may have played its part somewhere down the line. What a shame. Beast.

Horizonte
Trust me, you gotta see Indonesia orJapan, you will see women smoking nonstop, Thailand is a big break, but I am noticing it more and it often is linked to a bad farang who left the girl and she went into depression and started smoking haha
macca_tirana
I am up in Udon now. The girls here eat things i would normally try to kill with a newspaper or run a mile from. By comparison smoking seems quite social. In the UK more teenage girls are smoking now than there was 15 years ago. The majority of the girls i have seen smoking in LOS are those working in the bars, maybe that comes from western influence.
thaibel
Take my advice, don't start smoking, nothing cool about being a smoker and no man wants to kiss an ashtray. Nicky, I just thought what a great advice we can give men  "If you want no other man kissed your g/f (wife) make her become a smoker" Lyna.. you are "creme de la creme" U r both smokers, I suppose
thomasbbking
I agree with luckyphil......I didn't get it the first time !!! I am impressed with how little thai women smoke as well as drink.....the women here have great sense to know what is good and respectful. Nothing worse than to see a beautiful woman put an ugly cigarette in her mouth......keep healthy !!.................tomas
