I don't see why Thailand should put criminals in public office and hope they will change for the better while they are serving.

In almost every case they DON'T.

So it's a pretty stupid idea.

sorta like the criminals in your own government ?

Samak Has Kind Words for Junta

Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej says Westerners are overly critical of Burma and he has has new-found respect for the ruling junta after learning they they meditate like good Buddhists should.

"Burma is a Buddhist country. Burma's leaders meditate. They say the country lives in peace,'' he added, noting that he has studied Burma for decades but only just learned that the junta generals meditate.

Does ordering your army to shoot, beat, arrest and torture Buddhist monks make you a good Buddhist?

Or is this another case of "for me, just one unlucky guy.''

It's a sad day when the democratically-elected leader of "Buddhist" Thailand defends and pays respects to the murderers of Buddhist monks.
