Chatty
:? I posted a journal about cost of living sometimes ago. http://www.thailandfriends.com/index.php?name=Journal&view=journal&jid=55002&juid=11057 Today I'm thinking about studying. How much does it cost for education per person. Somebody invested like 1 million baht or more...for BA. alone. I didn't count kindergarten until high school and any special course such as English and computer. Then after graduated, BA. The bachelors got about 10,000 - 15,000?? not sure..but I got 8,000 10 years ago. Sometimes I think what's wrong about Education these days... what do you think? AAAum
what's wrong?? actaully i think nothing's wrong with it... somehow it's about programme itself... which has been set up improperly (for some)... education is a HUGE investment... to gain knowledge, environment, friends, connection, lifestyle, vision ... etc. anyway... whether it's worth... it depends on each person... and their awareness. education is the one of the most important part to refine us... funky_house
Well at the end of the day, someone is providing a service, that you want and that they are willing to supply at a price. Whether it is a private teacher or a school, you are paying for a skill that they are supplying, by teaching you. Its the law of supply and demand I'm afraid. Add on the cost of all sundries, from books to even the a/c in the classroom and a profit for the school and there you have it. Whether the school or teacher is any good is another matter. You just have to check out their reputation or previous results before signing up. just as you would for e.g. a house builder.

I think my BA. costs less money among bros and sis since i was in the government university ( i think the government paid for me somewhat 70% i'm not quite sure though) so i paid about 8,000-12,000 each terms my two brothers .. the elder one was in Kasembundit University each terms costed about 28,000-34,000 my youngest bro just entered AU. and the first term cost about 47,000.. for the cost of education i think if you can get in the government universities.. that would save some expense already ... and after graduated that another subject for me

dannyboy
The other sad thing is I?ve seen many Thai students parting like crazy instead of studying. Take TF for exp. there?re many students on line and some of them are dating/partying like crazy. I didn?t say that was a bad thing to do but if they are not good in school/university they should pay more attention in the classroom than in the bar or looking for love on the internet , especially when their parents pay for their education they should work harder. I was under the impression Nicky that nobody failed in Thailand and if you was struggling with your course, a very discreet envelope under the table cured all problems... Which is a shame because it undermines all those who have genuinely worked hard for their degree...

When I was at ChiangMai university, if any student gets grade lower than 2.75 in the first year that means you pack your bags and you go home. No room for her/him at CMU. And after the first year if you can?t maintain your grade over 2.5 then you get your butt off the Uni, leave the place for someone who are qualified. Since education in Thailand has become ?business? (those private universities, you know what I mean) so their clients get what they pay for. (can I say sadly again?) I could be wrong Nicky.( I hope I am) To be fair, it's what I have been told by others, so I have no first-hand experience of this... I think the cost of grad and post-grad honours in Thailand are very cheap compared to the west, the problem is, I know universities and future employers in the UK would look at me with suspicion if I had a degree from a Thai university. They would ask why would I choose to take a degree in an Asian country and scrutinize the accreditation, the standard and work-load of the degree attained. This is wrong in my eyes but it's the reality of things here.
