Wagner
I'm of course no authority here and I don't mind people writing Thai in their journals but as far as I understand, this is an english language forum and writing topics in Thai only, especially about a controversial issue like Preah Vihear, is in my opinion a bit cheap. An easy way to make sure there are no annoying, opposing opinions from farangs. With all due respect bCool, if you want to make a point but don't have the courage to make it in english for everyone to understand, that's not much of a point at all. There will always be opinions for and against yours and everyone else's standpoints. If you believe in what you write, then have the courage and decency to write in english. Your english is very good so that can't be the reason.
Loburt
It's not her opinion. It's an article written by someone in Thai that she has posted here. It's fairly long, she's not a professional translator, and she's not obligated to spend the hour or several hours it would take translating it at no pay for your reading pleasure. So give her a break, man. Thai is allowed on this website. It would be ridiculous if it wasn't. As far as annoying opposing opinions from farangs, there are plenty to be found, if that's what gets your rocks off, and links to at least one has been posted. Wagner
First of all, because it was in Thai, I can't know if it's an article or her own words. We could all write in our own languages here, plenty of germans for instance but what good would that do ? It's hardly for my reading pleasure only. I think it's fair to say there are a lot of members who can't read Thai. Looking closer someone already requested a translation before me. If I was to post someone's article here which was not originally in english I would translate it. Without pay. Unless of course I would want to exclude a certain group of people from commenting on it. I applaud your generous appraisal of her reasons but I don't think the translation trouble is the reason. Afterall, she said it herself loud and clear Sorry for this one kha... i don't wanna do it.

She does work during the day, even if you don't and have the time to translate articles for no pay. Could another reason possibly be that, as she obviously not fluent in English or a professional translator, the article might contain difficult or even technical terminology that she might not be able to translate accurately at her level of language skill? No, of course not. Because you can read her mind and know what her reasons are. About half the people on this website are Thai - not German. And there are a few falangs here who CAN read Thai. They have the RIGHT to write in Thai, if it suits them, no matter if you can read it or not. So piss off.
Wagner
So piss off. For a man with such a wealth of knowledge, experience and wisdom, you can sometimes behave in an incredibly childish manner. As much as I enjoy reading your posts which contain a lot of information most people don't have, you many times manage to invalidate yourself with your arrogance. I wish you a nice evening
Chatty
@ Khun Wagner... as p'Loburt said... my language ability is limited... The reason that I posted in Thai cuz I don't want ppl "lost in translation" I just copy and paste the article I just got yesterday cuz I think it's interesting for Thai or ppl who can read Thai to read and communicate if their language skill are better than me. I don't think it's wrong to post forum topic in Thai at all, at least I didn't see any TF rules said so. I did it once... and I have seen one from the another TF girl did it. I'm just a designer, who was born in Thailand, study in Thai program, never study abroad. pls forgive me about this. About the article that I post, it's from Prof.Sompong Sujaritkul, Ph.D. who was in this situation since it had begun.... (My father was 14 years old that time, so pls don't ask me where i was) He tried to clarify what did happened that time...the details from the world court the judgement. this article is too hard for me to translate it. It has vocab. about law and politics which it's too hard to explain. My thought, if I translate it... if I did it wrong way ppl might call me "nationalism" "racist" "bully" "selfish" to be honest... those words are too strong. but anyway before you call me those, you can check from your Thai friends or someone who can read fluent Thai, should be fluent Thai to avoid misunderstood. dan_bkk
It is very fine to be nationalistic and don't want to see your country lose a sovereignty of land to another country. However, be aware of those people who try to mobilize your nationalisms for their own gains. It is what spoilers do everywhere in the world. the situation will die down very soon and the same status quo will remain. Both Thais and Cambodians will still feel like victims and great injustice has been done to them. and for most Thai people, they will all forget about this incident. It would be interesting to see how this "little incident" impact the ASEAN Integration process? I bet most people in this country don't care BTW bcool, nothing is wrong with being nationalist and if people call you racist over this, so just be amuse by it and remember that this is just another form of entertainment that really does not matter in the real world. sunsnow
dan_bkk: I feel you. Nothing is more funnier than being called racist nationalists. KKK was extremely happy bunch too! Ah! Luckily they were called to be racist nationalists only in the radio, which was very entertaining for the clans men and in real life they were not such people at all! oh, wait! Another opinion and learning its history is always worth to know. Wagner
the details from the world court the judgement. this article is too hard for me to translate it. It has vocab. about law and politics which it's too hard to explain. Sure legal text can be extremely difficult to translate, I understand that. I wonder why you didn't say you can't or it's too difficult to translate when asked to do it. You just said you don't want to. I'm sure you'll agree it gives a somewhat different impression to people, in particular remembering how you reacted in another topic about Preah Vihear to people, mainly farangs, voicing opinions differing from yours. If the article is too difficult to translate and you don't wish the vast majority of farangs to know what it says, do you think you could atleast translate what you said yourself in Thai. We both know we disagree on the issue of Preah Vihear strongly but nevertheless I love to hear your opinions. I find it unfortunate that you have decided to present them in a way most foreigners will not understand.
Wagner
What is the point of discussion this irrational issue? A small number of people are using Preah Vihear as an issue for PAD domestic battle?. to stir up nationalistic sentiment. The issue of nation is now being used unnecessarily. Believe nothing of what you hear, and only half of what you see!!! It definitely is irrational and downright ridiculous. However it is also resulting in irrational actions and like your linked article states, such sentiments have already caused great tragedy. Both countries are known for strong nationalistic sentiment which tends to block out facts and reasoning. There was another thread where this issue was discussed extensively. You can find it here http://www.thailandfriends.com/index.php?name=DB_phpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=12949&highlight=heritage&sid=3a4ec011f22ed8e1f47bc3667948ec44&&sid=3a4ec011f22ed8e1f47bc3667948ec44 My main argument is that the ICJ awarded the Temple to Cambodia 46y ago. Furthermore the temple is undeniably of Khmer origin. Thailand should respect the rule of the law and stop bullying a nation it consideres inferior. Thailand can't handle the fact that a lesser nation like Cambodia prevailed over it and the international community has sided with Cambodia. It is a classic case of face loss which seems to bring to light the ugliest side of Thai society. Discrimination, intolerance, arrogance and nationalism. Loburt
So piss off. For a man with such a wealth of knowledge, experience and wisdom, you can sometimes behave in an incredibly childish manner. As much as I enjoy reading your posts which contain a lot of information most people don't have, you many times manage to invalidate yourself with your arrogance. I wish you a nice evening Oh, and you're not arrogant when you KNOW why bcool didn't translate a long and difficult legal-based article herself, ignoring all possible reasons except the one which fits your condescending view of her simply because she disagrees with you? Invalidate myself with who? You? Would you like a hanky while you press your skirt?
