Tuxedo rental??

There's a wedding dress shop on Surawong road, not far down from Patpong which will rent you a tux for a few days including the tuxedo shirt, cummerbund, bow tie etc.

They have a choice of styles.

I seem to remember it was 3,000 THB or higher -- that was a good few years ago.

They will try to adjust clothes for your size.

Quite expensive if you ask me. You could get a tailors to make you up the same stuff for 3 times the price I suppose.

If anyone knows anywhere cheaper, let us know.

I seem to remember having my secretary look in a lot of places and they were all expensive. It's generally wedding shops where you need to look.

One other warning: I am 6 foot tall and not heavily built and many of the tuxes were too small for me. If you are taller or heavier it might be hard to find something.

Many years back when I asked my secretary to find me a tuxedo for the weekend, she frowned and looked confused but said she would try...

About 4 hours later, another staff member approached me nervously and said "Khun [Niranahm], we're all confused as to why you need a tuxedo for the weekend" "It's for a national ball, which requires formal attire, I replied"

"but... but why?" she pressed.... "do you need a taxi DOOR??"

I needed one and checked the wedding studios on Thonglor. It was a bit expensive, like 6 to 8,000 baht.

If you wear it two or three times, you might as well have one made for you, as the cost will be the same. I think you can have a good one made for between 10 and 15K baht.

I should add that studs are quite expensive, so best to ask them not to make one that needs them.

I'm sure the jokes will follow after that statement.

Ton-Rak Studio... u can rent from there There are 2 branches I remember, one on Surawongse and another one is in Soi Thong Lor.

My ex-boss paid B4500 (Thong Lor branch) - he got no option coz he had to wear it on weekend but he realized that dress code was black-tie on Thursday evening.
