AAAum
This question was popped up in my head after i heard the news about Truffle Auction... "A Japanese handbag retailer paid $30,900 for a 850-gram truffle, which, by weight, was 84 percent less than the $330,000 a Macau casino billionaire paid last year. ammm.... $30,900 or about a million baht.... for this rare mushroom that grows underground near the roots of trees.... Personally, I dont know why people like to pay for this... damn delicious, trying once in a while, or showing off... :?: (i dont mention about shark fin, fresh monkey brain, bear paw etc.... it's about personal belief or preference) i do believe eatting can give me pleasure, especially having and sharing with the ones i love... BUT.... what's about incredible expensive food??? comparing to the main purpose... we eat because we need to fulfill our physical needs.... ok, whatever.... back to my question... What is the MOST expensive food you have ever had?

dy
This was many years ago, and I wonder how much it costs now? On a trip to HongKong, eating at one of the jazzy seafood restaurants.....we enjoyed eating baby abalone and coming from the USA, we were use to paying for a dish/entree by the plate, not by the weight.......  They asked us if we wanted a big dish, of course we enjoyed the stirred fried abalone in oyster sauce..... Until we got the check,  After calculating the price from HKG dollar to USD......  Was shocked that the big dish of baby abalone cost us about $200-300 USD...... Dave40
In Kyoto a couple of years ago I was invited to have a dinner with a Geisha. An amazing experience, though the bill for 3 of us came to $3,000 USD...luckily I wasn't expected to pay my 1k share of it all... The funny thing about food that it can cost alot to go into your body and yet next to nothing to exit it!!! (No offence intended)
dy
Good thing that I don't plan to have a dinner with a Geisha in the future.........in Japan $3000 USD?   I can enjoy a nice casual dinner at MK or Fuji in BKK for a few hundred BAHT, plenty good enough for me.......
