  1. 1. When will 50% of international flights resume?

    • 48 hours?
    • 72 hours?
    • 5 days?
    • 1 week?
    • 10 days?
    • 2 weeks?
    • The bored PAD will reoccupy
    • The disgruntled DAAD will occupy

IN the space of one day the PAD airport thread has gone from people expressing alarmist fears of impending civil war to most now conducting an intense debate about when and how the BKK airport will resume full operations. (Not talking DM here).

So a quick, not so serious poll. When will at least 50% of normally, scheduled international flights resume from the BKK airport?

(I'm using a threashold of 50% as most likely it will build up and some on the other thread suggest some airlines have a more stringent process for recommencing operations than others, if I understand the posts correctly).

But note:

Serirat Pasutanond, acting president of Airports of Thailand (AOT), said earlier that Suvarnabhumi could be officially reopened to passenger flights on December 15, but after the PAD began to vacate the premises, he said resumption of services would depend on inspections of the extent of damage to systems and facilities.

Suwannee Samrongwattana, deputy airport director, said several incoming and outgoing flights were operated by eight Thai and foreign carriers at the airport last night.

for the record i'm still saying a) that is either a coup attempt or relatively quiet civil war, depending on who's really behind it, and B) this is very very far from over. that was round one. it won't be finished until thailand's economy is completely restored to that of, oh i don't know, antarctica.

Yes on the far from over front (many more rounds to go in the coming years) but I would say that this was round 2 with round 1 being in 2006.

And I understand form the King Penguins that the Antartic economy is very rich and self sustaining. Though I am told it is hard to buy a hot water bottle!

If we take 10am Wed was the 'handover' point back to the AOT, then the 50% threshold must have been met sometime last night if this breaking news is to be believed.

48 hours was all is needed so well done to the optimists in the poll!
