I'll give a friend of mine some youtube hits...this might fall under your love it or hate type song (just like the hangover one).

It's about this girl who likes a guy, wants to call him, invite him out to the movies, etc., but she can't because she is not a guy (mai chai poo chai).

A buddy of mine (playing the guitar) wrote it, and the girl singing goes by the name doobadoo.

This is kinda "Hit" one... It's the trend of singing this moment...

young people like small cute voice... For me it's not bad.. I like music a bit jazz but voice of singer is kinda annoying when I'm doing something serious.

Here is the Link, "Mai Chai Poo Chai" (I'm not a man)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RrnQcCzAUao

lol...Admin forgot to put the link in. It's still a hit today? First time I heard it was a few years ago...

I still hear it from the radio... many ppl know this song. But as I say this trend still on.

Also Mor Lum and Look Tung always in trend for many Thai people included "Hi so" ones... I remember I have seen a big party on TV sometimes ago. When the song "Mun Tong Thon" played.. everyone in the party got up and dance like crazy.

The Phuket bar girls love that mor lum pop music ;-)

hmm p'Neo, it's unfair to say only Phuket bargirls like it... it's just all over Thailand... many Isarn ppl. living around Thailland... and Isarn ppl don't work for the bars only. Many of them educated and got good work besides, this song isn't for only Isaarn ppl like it... Keemao (drunkie) and Thai ppl who like parties like it as well.

i like this song also am i a drunky??

Not from Issaan and personally I love this song. It's so fun. Also I love Luk Tung music (Thai country) and I prefer to listen to Thai treditional music at night to bed and my favorite song to sing in the shower is Lao Duang Duan (ÅÒǴǧà´×ù)

Now what is wrong about that...

The question is not what region is one from. The question is if that person has forgotten that he/she is Thai by singing all the English songs with all the best Hip-Hop movements but don't acknowledge all the 44 thai letters.

Pathetic...

So don't blame it on the Isaan people !!!!!!!!!

I'm more ashamed that I can speak English better than local dialects.

haha not only drunkies nor issarn...

I do agree with nong Nave...

I'm not big fan of this song... but I didn't hate it. What if i hate it I'm not see any reason to look down ppl who like it.

Mor Lum is one of big Thai culture, Isarn ppl were born with it. For me it's kinda intelligence.I mean every kind of music, they have their own charming. Show the way of life, life style and history. Believe me NOT everyone can sing Mor Lum and Looktung.

i think so ¿Ñ§¾à ¢Ó ¢Ó ÃÂèÒ令ԴÃÒ¡ it is just a SONG :)

Just a bonus for the OP.

I heard this song when I went to Krabi, on the way to Emerald pool. I searched local radio station and heard this song... I really like the content...

It's about a girl from up country come to study in the university in BKK. and then she got to be the Star of university... then her mom told her to come back home, she can't accept that kinda life...

Just a funny one, so sarcastic.

Keep em' coming - i still miss something like a national sing-along song or something like that. We got alot of those here where people of any age will go into a frenzy when its played.

About the hangover song; they played it on TV in my hotel-room several times ? a liveversion where the singer had like 40 girls dancing in behind him, like a musical or something.

I think its good fun, and i think its better than the hip-hop thingy first posted, that is just a song that will be in and then out - the other one is abit of a classic (wheather you like it or not).

Am i sensing something towards/about Isaan people ?

RA RA is in love with Northeast Thailand, the region otherwise known as Issan: the land of rice fields, rice whiskey, elephants and mor lam music. On May 10th, the village of Baan Talad was sending their 20 year old boys to enter the Buddhist monkhood for three months, a tradition all boys in the village follow. It is one of the biggest parties of the year, involving a three to five hour street procession where the soon-to-be monks are paraded around the village on the backs of elephants; a truck is packed full of instruments and musicians rockin? the music of the country.

Issan culture is often looked down upon by the rest of Thai society and the people from this region are characterized as being uneducated country folk. The various forms of music that come from the Issan are often not given due credit. Yet, beginning about six months ago, an Issan mor lam song was being bumped all over the country, including high-society areas of Bangkok. The song, "Man Tong Thon" by Poifhai Malaiporn, is about getting so drunk and having a serious hangover that the only thing that can cure it is to drink more. RA RA swears this song is helping break down classism and negative perceptions of Issan music. Whenever it comes on everyone goes crazy!

So RA RA made the trip to Baan Talad for the street procession; everyone from grannies to kids to elephants danced their hearts out. Check out the photos and watch the awesome video to get down with the mor lam sound.

MV for "Man Tong Thon"

Watch the video !! they seem like they can throw a great party up there. It almost sounds like a techno/rave twist to the song in that video - that ROCKS.

(and its not a go-go bar)

This is kind of a fruity Sunday afternoon song...but it can be catchy if you embrace your fruity side for 3 minutes.

¾ÕèÊÒǤÃѺ (Pee Sao Khrub)

Thats abit corny :D

Stumbled across LOSO, and found quite a few with some catchy riffs, bet they could fire up a good party:
