Wired: In the film, you show the lead-up to the vote to authorize an invasion of Iraq. Senators and congressmen from both parties basically quote the same lines -- the "smoking gun becomes a mushroom cloud," the Saddam-Hitler comparisons. Someone was obviously feeding them their material. Donahue: They came from the White House Iraq Group, or WHIG. It's made up of advertising agency warriors. These are the people who name our invasions. Rolling Thunder, Shock and Awe. As if it was a videogame.
Move Over, Oil, There’s Money in Texas Wind
By CLIFFORD KRAUSS
SWEETWATER, Tex. — The wind turbines that recently went up on Louis Brooks’s ranch are twice as high as the Statue of Liberty, with blades that span as wide as the wingspan of a jumbo jet. More important from his point of view, he is paid $500 a month to permit 78 of them on his land, with 76 more on the way.
“That’s just money you’re hearing,” he said as they hummed in a brisk breeze recently.

My goal in making The Story of Stuff was to encourage people to have this difficult conversation, to begin thinking and talking about these complicated issues. Our current ways of making, using and throwing away stuff is largely based on unsustainable and unjust systems yet, as a society,we’ve got this big collective blind spot about talking about this. Let’s raise the issues, let’s ask the hard questions, let’s get it on the table and examine it and debate

What power system would the Lord Buddha build?
By CHRIS and CHUENCHOM GREACEN
Lord Buddha preached compassion, loving kindness and non-violence to all people and living beings. How might we make Thailand's environmentally harmful and conflict-ridden power system kinder, gentler and less violent?
Thailand's current electrical system is not so kind to plants, animals and humans. Hydropower disrupts fish ecology and floods forests, animal habitats, crop lands and villages.

Study Details How U.S. Could Cut 28% of Greenhouse Gases
By MATTHEW L. WALD
Published: November 30, 2007 (NY Times)
The United States could shave as much as 28 percent off the amount of greenhouse gases it emits at fairly modest cost and with only small technology innovations, according to a new report.
A large share of the reductions could come from steps that would more than pay for themselves in lower energy bills for industries and individual consumers, the report said, adding t
