It's always a joy to drop a tune in a middle of a set that is 'out of place' especially when it does work. Have always loved this tune and its electro riffs fit in with much of todays electro sounds so it is always a natural choice and one that will often drive the crowd wild. So, get off your office chair and shake your bootys!!!

Not usually a big fan of 'pop' but occasionally a song comes along that sticks in my head for a long time. This is one like that as it was in charts at a very low point in my life and every time I heard it, it made me sad yet happy at the same time. It made me able to look beyond the bad **** that was happening and to know that round the corner were bluer skies and better times. Havent heard it in ages so when I came across it, wanted to share...
Hadnt heard this in ages, and when I did I wanted to play it for someone I know will appreciate it. Perhaps more Sindhi Lauper than Cyndi Lauper. Hope you have cheered up and that this puts a smile on your face...

Could'nt get the original video but thought all the karaoke fans would appreciate the lyrics up so you can all sing along in the office
Remember hearing this sketch from the hilarious Eddie Izzard ages ago, but my friend sent me the link to this hilarious lego film which has been done to accompany the sketch!!
I want somebody to share
Share the rest of my life
Share my innermost thoughts
Know my intimate details
Someone who'll stand by my side
And give me support
And in return
Shell get my support
She will listen to me
When I want to speak
About the world we live in
And life in general
Though my views may be wrong
They may even be perverted
Shell hear me out
And wont easily be converted
To my way of thinking
In fact she'll often disagree
But at the end of it all

Pink Floyd keyboard player Richard Wright has died at the age of 65 after battling cancer, his spokesman has said. The group released their first record in 1967 with Wright appearing alongside lead guitarist Syd Barrett, Roger Waters and Nick Mason.A great keyboard player and often the forgotten member of the Floyd. Another rocker heads off to the final soundcheck. Here is 'Time' live from Earls Court 73 with Wright on lead vocals
well , we've had soul, funk, dance, ska, blues, so today its the turn of the mods!!! Three clips; first is the marvellous Professor Stanley Unwin, King of Gobbleydegook (and yes he was a real professor) First saw this guy on Blue Peter (crap UK kids show). Have included this clip because of his contribution to the first band's seminal album... which is the Small Faces, from 'Ogden's Nut Gone Flake' with the utterly apt 'Lazy Sunday Afternoon' (what a track) Now taking the influence of the Small
It does exactly what it says on the tin!! Today, 2 tracks from one of the most enduring acts of the last 40 years (as long as we dont mention his utterly awful drum and bass album!!)Yes, it's David Jones, better known to you and me as Mr David Bowie. First tune is the wonderful 'Let's Dance' The second the equally wonderful Space Oddity from 69 with the original video. Enjoy...
Today my feet have that itchy feeling they sometimes get on a friday. Its as if they know the weekend is just about here and they are ready to dance. So going to jump back 40 years for 2 classic and classy dance tracks. The first is the utterly magical 'Green Onions' by Booker T and the MGs and the second (from the year I was born!!) is one of my all time fave tracks; the Northern Soul classic 'Theres a Ghost in my House' by R Dean Taylor. Hope your feet get itchy too!!!!
Back to the dark days of Thatcherite Britain today, when the only bright note was the Ska revival taking hold in towns and cities around the country.First track is The Beat (or The English Beat if you were a yank) with Mirror in the Bathroom - recently reformed I saw these guys last year and they still rock!!Second is the utterly classic 'Ghost Town' by the Special. Perfectly capturing the mood of the time when there was high unemployment and recession, this eerie track still haunts... Once aga
Bouncy Wednesday!!!!!Ok, first track today is the classic Born Slippy by Underworld. Best known as the theme tune from Trainspotting; the classic Scottish film about a group of young Edinburgh men with a penchant for steam locomotives (!!!!!!!) this track still gets my feet moving and my ass up off the seat!!Second track today is my first from Depeche Mode (though there will be many more) Undoubtedly masters of dark and moody electronica, their carrer now spans over 25 years and they still fill
2 huge funky disco tunes today that can fit into any dj set alongside any other genre. From the Euro genius that is Georgio Moroder, your first track is the Donna Summer classic 'I feel love' ; years ahead of its time and guranteed to get booties shaking. This is the 1982 Patrick Cowley remix, which is my personal fave. The 2nd is the fantastic 'The Chase' from the soundtrack to Midnight Express from 1978 which won Giorgio his first Oscar!!Guranteed to put some bounce in your Tuesday!!!
Monday is day off the tunes, so thought I would post something different, especially as I am George ditched the cuteness factor from part 2 of his journal for gratuitous girl kissing!!Took my little princess Cerys to petting farm couple of weeks ago. She has no fear at 2 and a half and has already handled snakes!! (I didnt!!)Here is some pics of our day out... What horse daddy?Oh, that one!!!!!Ah, that's more my size...Im not actually sure what this is...But I'll give it a hug anyway...Awww, don
No, dont worry, nothing to do with religion. Sunday Sermon was the name of an all day sunday gig we used to do, starting at 11am and finishing at midnight. Got a lot of the local club names to come down and play something different; non club orientated and what they might listen to when chilling at home. I love these gigs as you could really do some cross genre jumping, mixing up dub with blues, soul with 80's etc. So, to give you a wee taste, todays journal has 3, yes 3, varied and downtempo tu
a double helping today. The original track is from Danish band 'Laid Back' from 1983 and the updated version is from 2006 by Wonderland Avenue. When dance acts rework or sample old tunes it is often a bit of a mess but Wonderland Avenue retain the great funky feel of this anti-drug track. Enjoy your saturday!!!
Well, Friday night here in UK so thought I would step up tempo with The Orb. Love this cos it samples the Minnie Ripperton track I posted the other day so , having both on vinyl gave lots of opportunities for interesting mixes.
Hope it puts you in the weekend spirit!!!
I heard this on pre-release and loved it so much that I ordered it on vinyl from Japan before it was available in UK. The Stones are notorious for not allowing many remixers access to their music, which shows the high regard they hold for the Soulwax boys from Belgium. I chose this today as it is a great remix of my favourite Stones track. I have the orginal on vinyl and now this complements it perfectly.Takne from the soundtrack of new movie, '21', this is great for the start of sets or at the
I have a huge collection of vinyl - currently around 6,000, spanning all ages and genres. After Puriku's journal reminded me of the lovely original Minnie Ripperton track, I decided to make my journal a journey through some of my favourite records (if they are also on Youtube lol) I will post everything from soul to dub, from techno to electronica.
In the flavour of yesterday however, I want to go back, way back. A lot of you will remember Fat Boy Slim's 'Praise You'. Well, here is the track t
