Note:

-This is ENGLISH ONLY (cause typing Thai is a *****)

- In a way, I'm glad that the current political situation in Thailand has awaken at least some sectors of Thai Middle Class and intellectuals from their apathetic prisons for so long. Desptie of what will ever happen in the next several weeks, (Of course, all side have to fully take responsibility for their actions/inactions in case of bloodsheds) These groups of people (and I don't mean Sonti or that self-righteous Chamlong and all the "career" politicians out there) will be a key in transforming Thai politic from money politic into something better.

Yes well written, however, I deal with the government from the Minister level all the way down to the senior and middle order public servants in the Provinces.

Corruption, theft and greed is endemic in Thai society. I pray Toxin and his corrupt family and TRT Party get it in the neck because what you read, as bad as it is, is only a drop in the ocean to reality.

Unless the cancer of corruption is addressed at all levels, other than the greed of Toxin and his family, the next government will be no different in time.

Sad but true for the good people of Thailand who deserve better.

Although a new leader doesn't have a corruption, his governemt can probably does it

Money is God . If it's combined with Power & Influence, No such thing in the world u can't deal with.

That's a saying :P

Hmmm.... This one is gonna go on and on I think. Why did it take so long for people to realise what Taksin and TRT have been up to?

Actually... I take that back... Thai media can do sod all to educate the country... and (nationally) so many know so little about politics that they rely on media to form opinions on this.. the rest is good old corruption, and I'm afraid, at base level, you ask your average Somchai or Siriporn whether they prefer having corruption on a general day-to-day basis.. and they will probably prefer to keep it.

I do however believe that Taksin is politically pretty astute, and therefore suitable for the job, the problems were, that he's been so busy concerntrating on all his business and profit-making he never had any time to run the country, other than some PR bullshit... the guy is ultimately a businessman, and so why would you appoint someone with so many business and financial interests to be Prime Minister? His salary as PM I doubt would even cover the cost of putting toilet paper in his offices washrooms...

It's frustrating even thinking about what he has been doing the last few years.

It's amazing and sad to see foreigners seeing it all through and be able to comments on it with reasons. Unfortunately, most Thai are still repeating same old and only logic that the PM has been implanting in their mind.

It has mature somewhat. People have been more active during these recent months. A good improvement to witness. ^_^

It's good that people and the media are starting to wake up and say enough is enough. Leaders that get too confident in their power will often create their own downfall. If Thaksin hadn't gone thru with the Shin sale, a lot of what is going on would likely never have happened.

But at some point the smell of corruption was just too much. It was just too blatant to rewrite laws and set new precedents for securities transactions for his own benefit (and have his allies and the regulators just rubber stamp it).

But it will take a lot more media attention. Also it will take leaders who are willing to accept more scrutiny and transparency than the current leadership does. People have to pay attention, even when there isn't a big crowd in the street, and follow closely what goes on.

Unlike any prime minister before him in Thailand's history during the democratic ear, Thaksin had a unique opportunity to make a real difference on corruption and clean up government.

Because he was elected with such a huge majority, he didn't need coalition partners. A corrupt coalition partner could not hold him hostage to by threatening to leave the coalitio and bring down the government.

Because he is responsible for funding the members of his own party in their election campaigns and through salaries, he's taken away power and followers from other godfathers, such as Snoh.

So, if he had early on fired a corrupt minister or two, he would still have easily survived any backlash from other corrupt politicians and sent an undeniable signal that corruption will not be tolerated.

This is what Badawi did in Malaysia and it gained him respect both at home and abroad. Malaysia has cleaner goverment than Thailand.

Chuan, despite being personally honest, never had this kind of political or financial power to wield over his coalition partners or even some members of his own party, so he was incapable of taking that kind of action.

Thaksin could have done it, but didn't. And that tells you all you need to know about Thaksin.

And remember, Thaksin said many times before being elected that if any member of his government even appeared to be corrupt, he would not wait for solid evidence or "receipts." He would fire that member of his government immediately.

Do you think Suriya, Newin, Somsak, etc. are clean? Do they appear clean to you?

Has Thaksin fired even one member of his government for corruption?

Do you think Thaksin is clean?
