Once again it is the begining on a new month. Yesterday, there were a lot of happy faces in the office. Mainly cause it is pay day. There were people going out to dinner or drinking together. The seem so happy but I kind of feel sad that some of my employee would actually have to wait until pay day to do something like that. But then again, they are probably not alone. There are probably a lot of people who live from month to month, pay day to pay day.

Please don't get me wrong. I am not trying to put anyone down or shine on myself. I am just writing my thoughts and feelings.

In most of the southern east countries. I am seeing the rich become richer and the poor become poorer. But yet I also found that the poor seems to be happier and would normally plays a permissive role in this. I have been in thailand for 3 years. From my experience, it is easy to hire someone to do what you tell them to do. But it is much harder to hire someone who can think for themself or finding someone with a lot of ambition.

I think overall thai people are really nice but also have less ambition than people of other countries. Like hong kong, japan or singapore.

One of contributing factor is probably buddhism. Basically buddhism teach to be a good person and not ask for too much in life, that suffering is caused by desire. I think that is also one of the reason why a lot of foreign like thai girl. Cause they don't really ask for much.

I alway belive in being the best I can be and doing the best in everything that I do. Trying to make a different in this world and the people around me.

So my question to all is too much ambition bad. Do you think people with too much ambition or money are unhappy. and how do you teach someone to have hungry or ambition?

Ambition is necessary to get anywhere in life. Success usually just doesn't fall into someone's lap. But, if you have so much ambition that you take everything for yourself and leave nothing for others, or you hurt others who get in your way, that's bad.

I don't agree that Buddhism is the problem. The people here who are grabbing everything forthemselves are Buddhist too. I think the problem is feudalism. This is still a very feudal culture.

I think on one hand thai ppl also have ambition but they maybe do not espress much about what they think .. on the other hand.. if you compare to other countries as mentioned.. you might be realised that how many ambitious ppl in those contries suicide each year.. due to stress in life..

We as thai ppl, are easy going.. sometimes, too much to foreigners but sometimes it is better to be in that state... as ppl should be happy what they have in hand and try to life their lives happy wiith it.. life is too short.. no need to waste time or to ve stucked in that ambition..

But if some ppl would be happy to be ambitious.. why not ?? each one has own idea to live life anyway

my comment -- :D

Being too ambitious with work can be very detrimental. People need to take time for themselves, their family and friends. In life, moderation and balance is key. If you bury yourself in work, you'll wake up one day and realize your focus was too myopic and life just passed you by. I'm from America where I believe too much focus is put on work and not enough on sanuk. Many people here just can't unwind and relax (always stressing about job, traffic, etc.). imo They are in a downward spiral, and many have some sort of emotional/physical breakdown as a result (workaholics appear worn and aged vs the youthful Thais look). Not only that, they are less productive and creative at work due to all the stress.

The Thais have taught me many things. As a result, I have adopt a better happier attitude, I'm nicer to others, and I live it up and enjoy life more. Thus, I think they have their priorities exactly in the right spot!
