For anyone interested in knowing more Thai or helping to improve my Thai, I'm going to post my homework here for the next few weeks.

American Customs and Habits

When meeting someone for the first time, it is customary to shake hands, both for men and for women. Hugs are only exchanged between close friends. Kissing is not common, and men never kiss other men.

Americans normally answer the telephone by simply saying “Hello.”

All restaurants in America accept cash for payment, and most (even some fast food restaurants) also accept credit cards. A few restaurants also accept ATM cards for payment. You will rarely find a restaurant that accepts checks.

There are only a few situations where tipping is expected. The one you will encounter most often is at restaurants. American restaurants do not add a service charge to the bill.

Smoking is not as common in America as in many other countries. Generally, Americans smoke less than Europeans and much less than Asians. It is a practice that is becoming less and less socially acceptable.

Good Job! I appreciated that you are learning Thai. My uncle never take any class but I sure he understand some and even more now coz his daughter is learning Thai quiet a lot. It's just naturally as i can understand some Deutsche but I cant write.

It's very complicated for Thai language, what level you are? I'm curious, I amazed to see you can write Thai.. wanna see you handwritting tho' :D

babyoiy: My Thai is mostly self taught, so it's all over the place. I learn some and forget some. I just think that if I am persistent, enough will stick to me so that I can communicate in an educated manner. I know that I will never be another Andrew Biggs, but I think it is my responsibility to learn the language and eventually pass the ». 6 test.

Of course, I'm going to have some editting help before I post it here because everyone likes to find mistakes.

I wish success to anyone attempting to learn any language.
