Have you  had difficult time when you must "make decision" for something important like job??I just got promote from my company last month. Everything look busy and a lot of things to do to make our team more stronger. I'm not sure if other company is the same, I just feel  the money I get is not worth the thing I must do more...yeah yeah..I complained a lot about company for many years but indeed, I'm still here for 6 years!!! I lists the things I like about my company which are

Good points

- Good boss

- Good colleague

- The job is interesting (I can go around to meet people while I also working on our application and lab)

- The job offer me to have chance to travel a lot (that's what I like the most)

- I can take leave as long as I want ( If I don't feel any guilty to do that) and go everywhere I want, of course if I have enough money. Indeed, they also ask me to join Seminar in UK  around the end of Sep, later I must go to Spain and Greece to meet our clients around 2 weeksBad points- very low salary..Indeed, veryyyyyyyyy low Just yesterday, I have a chance to have interview by exhibition/ event organizer. This job is totally different than what I do and my background....I will be the person who must find the sponsor/ exhibitor for their exhibition. yeah, they offer me the salary more than my recent salary around 15,000 B (not include fix commission 2%/ month and 1% commission if I can get their target) Money is soooo attractive but I'm still not so sure about this work...I told them that I will give them the answer next Monday... So, just want to know you guys comment..What would you do if you are in my shoe??

I guess the question is: Are you ready for a new challenge and a big change in work environment?

The salary increase is nice, but the job is new and you will give up a lot of perks with your old job. How stable is the new company? How long has it been in business? What opportunities are there for advancing in the new company?

PiAnt: yep, just one shoe because another shoe is for another thing...like love life..LOL

Agree with you..love it when you said "Life is about learning new things" :)

Petey: LOL exactly!! I think I confuse because I afraid to have a big change in working life..another thing is I afriad I can't travel as I do before..

I will sit and talk with my boss... given that I'm happy working with him/her and is a challenging jobbut the problem is low salary.. one who possibly can fix it is myself and my boss.

Both are non-Thai or world-wide company?

How come the salary is so much different?

Job scope at new place, high saraly, high responsibility for sure.. so make sure you know what are you going to do there.

- I would stay with this challenging job if I still can learn more and more plus Im happy working with my team. And I do like the part that I get to travel for biz trip and training/seminar in other branch (isn't it a branch in UK?). Under condition that I get a raise which I'm sure that I will get if I ask for.

-I would leave if I'm done with the current job and cant get any better. Try something new is also challenging and if I can do it well. And I will ask for a written job description.

always hilarious to see when people say they love their , job , job is money and nothing more , if you can do your job when you feel good about it then do it , if you choose for the money then its ok also , but dont forget , you still have to enjoy what you do , so .... is it worth it?

Shop it. Tell your current employer about the new job and that you would like to stay, but they have to raise your pay. Don't tell them you will take less than your new job offer, but be willing to take less if they offer that.

Each comment has interesting point. Ask yourself what would you want the most and what would make you happy. Money does important, but money is not everything. If I were you then I would choose "whole package", but then again we can't have everything we want. Making decision is tough sometimes if there is so much choice. But every now and then we sometimes need to take risk for our own good. Cheers :)

Ghee: Will you kill me if I said..I lose your no??? :(

babyoiy: My recent job is Japanese company and another job is Dutch/ Singapore...So now you know why it's sooo much different. I thinking about to talk with my boss too...but don't know how to start..

Pandorea: You said as my friend!! All of those questions is the most difficult part for me to answer!!

Happy: That's true, the more they pay, the more they expect

Kennyke: I will remember that..whatever I take I should enjoy it

primetime: Thanks, I thinking about that too....but for sure, they can't do that

Karnie: Indeed, it's really tough when there is so much choice..

Think long-run.

Don't short-change yourself with a job that offers a higher salary now but may hinder your earning potential in the long-run. I think it's better to stay in a job that you can build your experience on and thus increases your marketability in the future. Most people change jobs average of 4 - 5 times in their life. The question is NOT whether the new job is better than your current job but whether it is the best out there you can get. You have to look around more, and while doing that, invest in your experience.

Sound like staying is more to do... to me both happily working and salary are important but I would choose to do what I'm happy with first. I would stay even I got just a very lil raise coz I'm always appreciated when the organization make me feel that I'm a part of it not just a staff/slave.

Unless you are in the need to get extra cash... like buying a property etc.. I don't know about any Nippon org that much, maybe your position here and there are big different thats why the salary is very different. At my ex-co, all bankers got higher paid than those operation staffs and in a big range too.. They got at least 3 times of mine but I was a team secy with BA while they are bankers with MBA from abroad (UK and US only, one hold only a bachelor degree but is from Harvard).

Talk to your boss... you said you have a good boss... first of all, you have to trust in yourself that you deserve a raise. Else don't expect your boss to think so. I asked for a raise not becoz I'm a great staff but it's becoz I deserve it given that I cover about 3 roles when I was working.

Get ot read your journal got me being a bit more active about finding a job. Thank you!
