Since I went to one of TF charity event at Ban Kru Noi Orphanage the other week, I really want to join many other charities again because it did really make me feel good that I give something back to people who really need help. I don’t normally like to do this sort of thing if it has something to do with people who is already have got more than enough donation. I prefer to help some others who are not known to our society. It is just the thought till the day before yesterday I came home and my parents told me that “Kati , means coconut cream, the dog in my neighborhood was badly bitten by another mafia dog next door so I went to see if he is ok.

I have never talked to this dog before but as soon as his owner opened the door to let me in and I called Kati’s name, he walked to me slowly..sat down and put his chin on my foot. He was badly injured at his left eye. As you can see in the pic , his upper and lower eyelids were torn and really swelling. I checked him to see if he still can see and asked the owner if he took Kati to see the vet.. but he hadn’t. He said he went to get some pills but that’s all he would do.

With this sort of wound, it needs to be stitched before 6 hours but this is more than 24 hours now and started to show signs of infection. I tested the water, his owner wasn’t willing to do anything about it so I asked if I could take care of Kati and he said it is ok. I just don’t understand why someone could be ignorant like this when their pet is injured!

I asked him to at least help me to take Kati to my vet  friend as he has to sit in my car. We got to the surgery and Kati was checked. While we were checking and cleaning the wound, he cried a bit..it must hurt but he didn’t try to bite.  I discussed with the vet and we had to clean the wound and take antibiotic for 7 days then see if it needs to get plastic surgery done.If so, I ll do it myself to save the cost of the treatment. Now Kati feels better even the E-collar we put on his neck to prevent him from scratching his eye annoys him a bit. I paid the bill and took him home J

I write this coz I want to tell you guys how good it makes me feel, as a vet , to help the one who really need help.. animals that they cant talk..cant tell when they feel the pain.I write this coz I want to inspire the pet owners here to be responsible to their pets, once you consider to have a pet..it means a life time responsibility. If you are not ready…please do not adopt one. Coz I want to inspire you that if we want to help someone, it doesn’t have to be human like us ..dont forget you can help animals too.And coz I want to show you that animals have heart and remember who helps them BUT not because I want people to say that I am a good person or want to show off.

In the following journal, I ll show you that when you do good..you get good in return( even you don’t actually expect it).

Next week, I ll tell you how things go with Kati.Have a good night guys!

Good work! I take care of a few stray cats in the neighbourhood. Just feed them kitten food and yoghurt. Just seeing them thrive is a great reward. When I started 1 mo ago they looked skinny and had sores. Now they are ready for cat shows! But they don't want me to touch them and I'm fine with that. So no bad people can abuse them. Check yesterdays http://pattayacitynews.net about a buffalo who sought help for a snake-bitten companion from humans.

Good Job on your part !!!

I picked up a street dog that was hit by a car and dying beside the road, and carried him to the vet so try to save him.

I paid the bill and adopted him once he got better....but it was against the rules to have a dog in my apartment, and the landlord threatened to kick me out into the street that night( in my wheelchair) in the middle of Korea's winter! (I had been run over by a truck when driving my motorcycle)

So I had to give the dog away :-(

At least I got to save his life.

The dog you helped could have easily died from infection getting to the brain.

Good Job!

Pet owners should always be responsible for their pets. Unfortunately this isn't always the case. Then... if someone passes by willing to help... Yeah, that's very nice what you did!
