In a previous journal I told you that I have a condition called edema. It is swelling of the legs and body cavity caused by fluid buildup in the tissue.I would love to tell you that my condition is improving, but in fact it is getting worse and quite rapidly. Many of the daily tasks I used to be able to do myself I can no longer do and have to rely on help. The edema has causes extreme weakness in my legs and standing up from a sitting position is becoming more and more of a problem. I can no longer shower without help. I can no longer sit to use the toilet without help standing up. Walking is also a big problem. Very soon I may need 24 hour care. And I can tell you that taking a dump without being able to sit on the toilet takes considerable creativity! heheheThe doctors have tried various medications, but none have helped so far. Next week I will probably go to the hospital and they will insert a syringe into my abdominal cavity in order to drain fluid. This will make me more comfortable, but treats the symptom and not the cause and is only temporary, lasting only about 3 weeks. And it is a very painful procedure.Can the edema be reversed? Yes, with the right combination of drugs and treatment. But until now that has proven very elusive.Because my health continues to worsen, I have been spending less time on TF and most likely I will not be online as much as before, though on good days I may be around as usual.
