God.... Finally i have a time.. to write this journal... i really want t o make it... wooo hooo.. and i Did..  :)

Pompeii.... Gonna be one of my most favorite-want- to -go....

For sure....   Pompeii is a ruined Roman city near modern Naples in the Italian region of Campania, in the territory of the comune of Pompei.It, along with Herculaneum, was destroyed, and completely buried, during a catastrophic eruption of the volcano Mount Vesuvius spanning two days on 24 August 79.[1]The volcano collapsed higher roof-lines and buried Pompeii under many meters of ash and pumice, and it was lost for nearly 1700 years before its accidental rediscovery in 1748. Since then, its excavation has provided an extraordinarily detailed insight into the life of a city at the height of the Roman Empire. Today, it is one of the most popular tourist attractions of Italy and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.      Pompeii_the_last_day_1.jpgA computer-generated depiction of the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 which buried Pompeii . The depiction of the Temple of Jupiter, facing the forum, and the Temple of Apollo, across the portico to the left, are nonetheless inaccurate, and the shown state of the porticoes around the forum is also at least questionable, as they all appear intact during this recreation of the 79 eruption; it is widely known that at least the Temples of Jupiter and Apollo had been destroyed 17 years before, during the 62 earthquake, and that they had not been rebuilt by the time the city was finally destroyed in the 79 eruptionAa_large.jpg

 Some plaster casts of victims of the eruption still in actual Pompeii; many are in the Archaeological Museum of Naples. (Casts can also be found, amongst other places, near the forum, inside the baths, and at the Villa of the Mysteries.)Pompeii-Dog.jpg408px-Pompeii_Garden_of_the_Fugitiv.jpg243446VBDA_w.jpg  Pompeii-RuinsandVesuvius.jpg

Pompeii.

0 sad Pompeii!

0 dead Pompeii!

Silent are thy streets;

Heavy is thy winding sheet of ashes.

In the old time the sky was blue above

          thee.

Thou hast been happy with the play of

          children,

Hast feasted, and been gay with dance and

          music.

          Each has his buried city,

You yours, I mine; its streets have echoed

The merry tread of many dear companions.

There we have played and talked and

          prayed together;

There we have lived and loved together.

Deserted are its streets, and dark, and

          lonesome.

Hot tears have I poured over it like lava;

Like ashes fall the gray years thick above

          it.

Silent is it and dead.

0 sad Pompeii!

0 dear Pompeii!

i have been to a few volcanos around the world and found them all fascinating. my favorite and in a way my least favorite my mount penatubo. i think i just speeled that really bad. this is the one in the phillipines that erupted in the 1980's. the power of the eruption and the amount of damage was unbelievable. thats what i found so fascianting. what i found sad about it was the amount of damage done to peoples lives over 10 years later when i was there people where still homeless and struggling. it was scary because it was still active though.......i think the most beautifull was crater lake in oregon. which had not been active for 1000 years.....if you ever get a chance to go to a volcano unny take it. a great experiance. thanks for the pictures always been one of my favorite volcanos of ancient history because of the perserved city.

Crater Lake, a volcanic caldera in South Central Oregon?s Cascade Mountains,

boasts breathtaking scenery, created about 7,700 years ago with the volcanic eruption

and subsequent collapse of the summit of Mt. Mazama.

Today, the crater, about 8 km wide,

contains the deepest lake in the United States

? nearly 600 m (2000 ft) deep.
