Its now 16 days since I had a drink, my mood is better I am feeling more creative and also feeling a little more complacent with my life. My stress levels are lower and I think it really is doing me some good. Over half way to having a month without alcohol which is my goal, its really hard whilst living in a bar to do this but if I do a month I will feel really pleased with my self.

Eddie I never said I wanted to stop drinking forever I want to be able to drink when and if I desire not out of habit. I want to be able to choose if I want to have a drink or not, the fact I have done 2 weeks already has shown me I do not need to drink as much and I can control my drinking habit. I don't plan to go back to the same old **** as you put it but to approach my life with more control and discipline . I have set myself a goal that I will try and achieve. So less of the negatives thanks.

It's good to hear that you are succeeding in your path to a new life. I am glad to hear it. I do drink but not as often as some of my friends who just go out to get drunk. I don't...I will have a few beers whilst talking to mates at the Bulls Head or wherever, but the aim is to chat and meet friends, I dont go out with the specific aim of getting drunk...as I see some people do.

Exactly as you say, alcohol can be a very pleasant addition to the meal or spending time with friends, but only as an addition, not as the whole reason for it....that is where people gte it wrong.

I drink wine or beer, and sometimes some spirits with mixers or cocktails, but usually not all these kinds in "one sitting" and I only drink things that are decent quality and pleasant...thats why I avoid that god-awful rubbish Mekong, and lao khao.

The time I spent in Saudi, I recall that there was home brew (usually not wonderful) and sidiki (not sure how to spell it) - the stuff is similar to lao khao I am told, but fortunately I was able to avoid it completely...

Anyway - good on you Shorty...and also George...look after yourselves guys!
