That was my mom said to me today...As you know from the newspapers... that we're having the government protest, they marched to the government house yesterday. I had to work besides as I posted journal yesterday about flu vaccine made me have fever, so I couldn't join them. Feel guilty....Then this morning I told my mom that I would go there... she said.. "let me finish work, I will go with you"  Me "huh!! you not afraid?" My mom is 62 years old now... my dad is the same age...Last week I took them to the protest at Makkawaan cuz I felt it was safe to be there, I have been there so many time and knew that nothing to worry about. Then today my mom said that again... she said "I'm not afraid, to do something that I can help for Thailand, to get rid off the bad gov. who are trying to destroy our nation... I can't sit and wait what will happen..., i'm 62 years old, I got happy, sad, and get through those kind of situation, besides, you are educated, you have job...and know how to live, I'm not afraid to die if it happen..." Such a brave old woman, for me... she doesn't have high education.... but the way she think is so brilliant... That's why I love you mom..

100% GENUINE POST, NOT A WIND-UP!

Can somebody please explain to me why people are still protesting?

As far as I am aware, PPP were democratically elected, so why is there still a small minority against the government?

There is always a minority against the government, unless you're living in North Korea. (Well, there's one there too, but they dare not say)

The PAD is still protesting because they believe the Samak administration is attempting to sabotage the legal cases against Thaksin so he can get off without having to stand trial on corruption charges and then return to power.

@ Loburt

I gathered that but do they have any actual evidence to that effect?

and is it really worth destabilizing the country the way it is? The country spoke at the election and now what, try again until the minority get a government they like?

The mind boggles!

p'Loburt... yes I should be careful... while I walked at the back of the stage I didn't see, the group of ppl called NOR POR KOR ¹Ã¡»èǹ¡Ãا They came in to mess around with some evidence... My dad saw them walked toward where I was standing, he held me back, and the security guard took them away...

@ P'Danny, actual evidence? how? I'm the one of people who didn't elect that animals in... and as a boss, I can say ppl are the boss cuz we pay TAX to hire them work... if the employee are stupid and tried to sell our country, how can we stay... We have right to protest the bad gov. they write in the constitution.

P'Danny for your information... Yongyuth Tiyapirat... We called Yuth Frige cuz he order the cops to kill the old grandma and grandpa claim that those couple sell drug which wasn't true. They didn't have any guns to protect themselves they just hind themselves for gun shot behind the fridge ppl know this... and then from this election, he is in the committee of the PPP but he bought vote, caught by video tape.. and the court judge that he was guilty.

From the constitution said if anyone in the party committee do anything against the election laws... the party will be closed, down... disappeared... so they scared and tried to fixed the constitution for themselves.

and Samak, he is the nominee prime minister, work for Thaksin, don't you know that? he tried to fix every laws to make Thaksin come back and clean... and he has corruption cases, I mean more than one...

Now, about Kao Pravihaarn... which we has the land overlap with Cambodia...

Loburt and bcool are right Danny, as for them being democratically elected - I am sure many harbour doubts about that as well...

You and I, as farang, cant do anything about this, but it breaks my heart to see the country up in arms because of this current situation.

It takes people like bcool and her mum (what a great lady!) to say "Enough!" and get out there to do something about it.

Unfortunately people living overseas only hear what they are told by the media - or by their own govt, who may have another adjenda, and the media overseas is pre-conditioned to "rev up" any story that involves a coup, and to paint those attempting the coup as bad - regardless of what is good for their country and what is not.

They dont live here - we do! They don't see what we see. They don't have access to the same information that the Thai community has...eiher that or they prefer to turn a blind eye.

Samak looks for me like a brainless dumb (A shame to have him as prime minister for such a great country).Good that thai peoples do raise their voice!!!

You people need strong businessmen like they havein mexico. The prime minister does as they say, or he gets executed. Plain and simple... Ha ha, just joking. But seriously, I think the road to finding noble leaders is long, lonely and takes time. We have issues here with our leadership too, but people are too busy to protest. only 30% of our population approve of the government, yet they are still in power. Things will change, but it will take time. Be strong, be patient.
