When I was in Chiang Mai, I visited the Ethno-Agricultural village. There are several different tribes, Hmong, Karen etc living there in their traditional houses, wearing traditional costumes, growing rice and making things (handicrafts) which they sell to the tourists. Here are some pictures of the Hmong women that I saw there:Hmong houseDSC_0464.jpgDSC_0466.jpgDSC_0468.jpgDSC_0473.jpgDSC_0480.jpgDSC_0482.jpgDSC_0491.jpg

Pink lemonade - the necklaces stretch the women's necks and allow the women to graze from the juiciest, most succulent leaves found higher up, out of reach on the top of thorn bushes. The Hmong tribe have yet to invent step ladders.

Great photos Funky!

Hey bro Man,

Cool pics.

But the women pictured are actually Padaung.

They are sub-group of Karen (Bwe Group)

Originally from Eastern Burma, they called themselves "lae Kur" or "Kayan".

They usually wear a row of brass rings that do not stretch the neck but in actuality crush the vertebrae and collar bones.

They wear these rings because of an ancient Padaung myth in which the spirits were angered and sent tigers to eat the women.

I wish I was a tiger cause im a bit hungry now

PS If ya want to learn more about the Hill-tribes the University of Chiang Mai has a Tribal Research Institute on Campus. They are more than cool to help you, although actual immersion into real Villages of any scientific merit was halted back in 2001 and 2 during the problems of that time.

Nonetheless they have en extensive library. One notable PHD thesis written by an Anthropologist from The University of Illinois at Northern was done in the late 70's

A time that cannot be recreated.

Read it

tf IS the new generation.

Thais lost their own culture.

Farangs mostly got no clue (except for a few notable people, (you know who you are)

Let us see if any of you understand what this means and know how it will affect your lives in the future.

English version:

When the water comes the fish eat the ants

When the water gets lower the ants eat the fish

Thai Version:

¹éÓÃÒ»ÅҡԹô ¹éÓŴô¡Ô¹»ÅÒ

××I used to tell my Thai students this ****- some of them understood......do you?

ur momentary suoperficial existence will not support you- your family- or your happiness

god-......... is this a f***in Pratom 1 class or what?
