Khun Korn, (Minister of Finance) offered his support for a rethink of the country's energy policies, noting that Thailand ranked last in the region in terms of energy efficiency.I don't understand the reason why the Thai people and their leaders don't support the development of energy efficiency and renewable energy in Thailand. I suppose it has something to do with education and the Thai media.

Khun Korn will be the last person to try and bring renewable energy to Thailand. Even in his statement above he's trying to shell it off to another ministry when he could be creating programs himself.

Personally, I think it's Thaksin's and red-shirts' fault... j/k

No, I think energy efficiency policies will never be a top priority for Thai gov'ts. They just care about policies they can see results in near-term and get them votes in the next election... IF they get to complete their term.

When Thai people care about this issue then the Thai government will have a reason to care about it. But that still doesn't mean that anything will get done ;-) At the moment there seems to be very little interest in green issues in Thailand. Maybe we should start the green shirts.

Agree with Eagle! I get notices from banks and credit card companies all the time to go PAPERLESS. Until they say they will reduce my bill by $1 per month, I will continue to get paper statements! Same with Thailand. What's in it for them? Money Money Money!!

Thanks for comments. It's seems that many Khun Thai are sick and tired of the Red Shirts and the Yellow Shirts politics, maybe the Green Shirts is a winner. Whatever the case time, tide, and Climate Change wait for no man.
