I think you can do a search from different states here for Thai woman and see if they are working in the restaurant business in that city. If they are, why not contact them and see if they could use help there? You will certainly improve your English skills in just about any native English country.

And never mind about Iain, he doesn't know the improved English :)

Good idea.

Many people who want to learn the language fast get jobs as taxi drivers but that's nasty work.

Waitress is good and there are openings in just about any city or town.

If you worry about homesickness you may want to consider a college town or a larger city where there will be Asian communities.

***** has a point - the high-priced US education system is reducing the language to a series of grunts and groans.

Actually Benji, Bobby was referring to Simplified American - they have trouble with real English there... but never mind...when you get back, we can start to correct your accent and get you speaking proper English later...

I think Kerry makes a good point. You may learn about ordering what's on a menu etc by working in a Thai restaurant, but not much more in the way of English. And don't believe the friendly banter about which English is better, many Thai's have learned English just fine in Britain and the US :)
